Im currently looking into:

Golf MK1 with 1.8t, 20v S3 engine conversion
Alpina C2 E30

Leaving plenty of wedge left over to play with!

Great pic. Did you find a good car seat to fit the backseats?

An E92 M3 is on the shortlist currently...

Thanks for the ideas chaps.
The problem with the fast four door saloons from the likes of BMW and Audi is that they are very heavy in standard trim and just won't take the abuse that a 964 will when pounding round a track. The brakes will fade after about three hot laps. Even the brakes on the 'light' CSL give up quite quickly (many folk upgrade to AP brakes because of this). They'll also be very heavy on tyre wear - particularly an S/RS4 which will murder the front tyres due to the AWD and understeer. Most of the M3s I see on trackdays get lightened and modified to cope with the abuse and are no longer family roadcars.

I think the Cosco High Back Booster is a perfect fin in a 964.

It's basically looks like a racing seat shell - not a lot of extra padding or bulk to the design. The base fits perfectly in the narrow rear seats (fits the exact same footprint of the seat bottom) and works from 2+yrs old. until a booster isn't needed anymore (8 yrs/ld or 80 lbs. in North Carolina).

It's also rock solid when you attach the upper tether mount.

I have a bunch of pictures and comments here:

Sorry for the off topic OP.... maybe I should have bought a minivan instead?

My daughter turns 8 on New Year's Eve... can't wait to have no more boosters in back. (Though I've gotten tons of thumbs up when people would see both in the back).

I have the kids in the back of my 964 more often than not. It is one of the great advantages of a 911. If I couldn't use it to run the kids to football etc I don't think I could justify owning it.

Apart from a rusty red one, all 964 c2 manuals I ve found for sale have been over £28k.

Whatever you do, don't swap an no depreciation possibly appreciating Porsche for a common deprecating car like an e90 m3 etc. I'm not convinced rs4's have bottomed either

Rs4 was the most boring car I've owned. My abarth had 10000x the personality. He'll even my jeeps were more engaging.

I wish I had teh time/nedd/space for another car. So many cars is like to have in addition to my 964. Then again, I want another bike to go with mine too. Man, not enough hours in a day or long enough season to enjoy them.

My kids are now 12 & 10 and growing fast, time is running out for them sitting comfortably in the back. I take them to school every morning, but the big kid is in the passenger seat and my 10 year old in the back. Not sure this is sustainable when they are 14 and 16. After 16 they get their own VW Golf Diesels!
