Default Big reds VS OEM calipers

Evening gentlemen

I'm currently looking to buy big red calipers and rotors
Allready have some good adresses in france & germany to purchase them
(i know i need adaptors)

Is there someone who can tell me how much the difference is regarding the calipers to the outside off the wheel?

And am i correct MINIMUM 17'' wheels can be mounted?
If i forget certaing important things nregarding the swap to a 1991 C4 please say so

Thanks in advance

Best greetz

Hi Fella,

When you buy the mounting brackets make sure to buy stainless steel/ Alu variants to avoid corrosion! PS> Your big reds should be big and purple

You could fit Bug Reds on 322mm rotors in 16" wheels, there is plenty of room radially, the usual stumbling block is the room behind the spokes, most modern aftermarket wheels will accommodate them but not all, there is not much room axially between the outer face of the caliper and the back of the wheel

Bill - does that mean that big reds will fit behind D90's ? (the wider ones, the PO put the wider ones on the front as well as rear to improve handling - I think they are 9J - I'm not near my car at the moment so can't look). It is one of the reasons I hadn't gone to a bigger brake pack, either big blacks or big reds because I thought it would involve a wheel change to 17" as well - and the cost of big reds + wheels was not going to get past the "minister of home affairs" - she is having enough conniptions about the new clutch and flywheel ! :-)

I really don't know, never tried it.

As I said the 16s radially will have the room, the issue will be the design on the back side of the wheel, the axial/transverse room is going to be the choke point,

That said Porsche has been specing bigger brake clearance on it's new wheels since around 1987.

Hmmmmm....food for thought..... mwahahaha ! The car is away having a bit of work done at the moment...I'm sure she who shall be obeyed would never notice a new set of shiny red calipers behind the wheels when it came home LOL
