Default 993 turbo rear brakes on a 964

I may have found some 993 turbo rear brakes, Is it possible to use them on a 964? what discs would I need?

Thanks

Not without loosing your hand brake. They use a 322 x 28 rear rotor.

so they use a 993 Turbo rear rotor? but the handbrake doesn't work anymore then I'll have to work something out for the handbrake.

thanks

Yes they will need the turbo rears to work. I just removed my handbrake but it is a track car so I don't need it. Same goes for using the 964 turbo rear calipers. They require the smaller but wider 28mm rotor and cannot be used with the handbrake.

So I bought the 933 turbo calipers, but I'm not sure if they really are 993 turbo calipers.

I testfitted them, before I want to have them powder coated and put new seals in them.

First I took the rear rotor of, and fitted the caliper. they fitted without a problem. (sorry for the cellphone pics)

Then I Did some measuring and tryed to fit them with the oem brake rotor. and they work. The rotor is in the center of the brake caliper. Which Is strange to me because in the previous posts they say that I need to use 933 turbo rotors which are 65mm high and the oem 964 rotor is 100mm high.

So I'm kind of confused right now. On the plus side the calipers will work with the handbrake. but on the downside if I fit the oem rotor the I will have +-1cm of unused pad surface.

maybe someone has an answer for me

some more pics

Just because you can bolt them on doesn't mean that they will work

the 993t rear caliper actually comes in 2 version 28/28mm and 30/36mm, the version w/ larger pistons is actually for 993RS and 993RSR and 993Cup. All require a 322 +/- x28mm rotor, min rotor thickness is 26mm.

You are trying to use them w/ a 299 x24mm rotor

the 2 issues are
1) the pad is hanging out in space
2) the rotor when new is 2mm thinner than min spec

if you bolt on a 993t rear rotor the issues will be w/ the parking brake

Ok, I realize the 2 issues.

So I think my calipers aren't 993T calipers. I measured the pistons and the diameter I can measure is between 24 and 25mm.

So the question is what calipers are they?

There is a taper you need to remove the seal and measure the bore which would be 28mm.

@cobalt is there somewhere I can see pictures of your setup? I will try and measure them soon.

Not sure what this will do for you. These are 964 turbo rear calipers using aluminum hats and 299 x 28 mm slotted rotors.

Prior to this I had the 993 rear calipers (non turbo) using standard rotors.

I will be out for a while but let me know what I can help you with. My car is on the lift and I can take better pictures if you need them.

This configuration does not allow me to use a rear handbrake same as the 993TT rotors which are a different setup.

Why not try replacing the 964 front calipers with "big red" rear calipers?

That's a unique rear brake setup
1) does the parking brake still function?
2) where was it sourced?

An easier tell is, if the visible sealsare the same or different, the 993RS seals and the pistons under them are noticeably different in size f/r, 993tt are the same f/r

I took a picture, the pistons are all the same in size.

@cobalt, Is it possible to take a picture of how you bolted the caliper? did you have to remove the parking brake parts to get the calipers to work with discs?
