Thanks Matt. I'm not familiar with the RS shifter but compared to my B&M shifter, the new one would sit ~1.5" higher. It may be slightly different since the OEM is somewhat flat on the top and the new one will be a sphere, however we can adjust the dimensions of the stainless extension as needed once Chris does his CAD.

Edit: Paul and SD gave me approximate measurements of their OEM shafts and they seem to be the same length than my B&M. Not sure if the RS is taller/shorter but since the SS extension would be independent of the sphere/collar, it could be done in custom sizes to accommodate various preferences.

That way, if you choose to change the look down the road it would be an easy swap, just screw old **** off and new one on. Once we have a final prototype done, I'll update here and then cross post in the 993 forum to gauge interest and see if we can get a group buy together.
That would be great. Thanks for all of your work!

Thanks for the follow up Laurent; at first I was skeptical, but now I really think that could be the easiest and best alternative to this whole ordeal.

OK. Got my corian shifter from Elihu today. It measures 90.5g (3.2 ounces) on my kitchen scale. The insert weighs 10.5g on top of that. I'll be installing it this weekend, and I'll post pics when it's finished.

I also have a friend designing and printing a cup similar to the singer with his makerbot, so I'll post pics once it's all installed, hopefully in a week or two at most.

cheers M. Legault! 100g is too light for my taste personally ... not bad but 250g feels/sounds right to me

ps ..

Copolymer Info: Note about the black/white plastic material is called Acetal Copolymer: This is a very hard polymer plastic which is resistant to dents and scratches. It is similar to Delrin (acetal homopolymer). It has good heat characteristics and will not get too hot or cold in the weather like metal does.

Chris hasn't had a chance to finish the CAD due to the extreme holiday rush for orders. He has to make about 30 ***** before Friday as holiday gifts, so his design time is on hold until the holiday deadline passes. It may take a little while, but I'm ok with that if the end result is as nice as what he has done in the past.

Thanks again Laurent ...
what do you think : should we get a list together of who's in for a 5 or 6 speed and see if he'll do a Groupbuy for us?

First lets wait until the first one is made and tried out by Laurent, and then we shall proceed to see who is interested.

Thanks for the update.

Matt - Given that it is a rather slow process, I prefer to wait until we have a design/prototype/pricing before we get a list together so that 1) we can make sure the end result will appeal to most folks and 2) folks don't get too impatient and drop out.

Now I need to find a OEM shifter that could be sacrificed to create the leather boot part.
