Put the top up (1st time since the spring when I took her out of storage), moved a bunch of stuff around to make room on the far side of the garage, parked her for the winter

Rolling on to this weekend?

Hopefully I'll pick the 964 following a big service and driving a friend down to a specialist to look at a 964 Targa...

If all goes to plan and the weather improves we'll be convoying back up to London together through some good old B roads.

Or if things tie in nicely I'll be dropping off the 964 at Southbound on the way back too.

What route are you going for replacing the steering rack? Mine is leaking like a sieve too, well actually it has sat long enough to leak all the fluid out by now.

Where are you getting a rebuilt unit from? Have you considered the Rack Doctor?

Are you doing the work yourself?

Regards,

Waiting in Ohio.

Judging by the view out of the window everyday this week, probably very little. At best I'll remove the rear bumper and maybe run two extra ignition driver wires from the ECU back into the engine bay for the wasted spark setup.

OFF TOPIC

In addition to the 964 I also have a convertible Nissan 350Z as summer cars.

I was told to always put the top back up at the end of the day as keeping it in the down position will cause issues with the top. Its a pain in the *** to put the top down at the beginning of every drive.

Have you had any issues keeping it down for a summer?

I always put used to put mine back up. I did it by hand as motors were disconnected. I would not latch it to windshield header. It would wrinkle if I left it for a day. It was a brand new top and looked it when removed after the wreck a couple years later.

My top only goes up when I put it in storage for winter or get caught in a surprise rainfall, no issues really.

With some luck my new engine fan comes in this weekend and she will be ruling the road again.

I really think I may be a bit hopeful here.

Hey Laurent, you should have joined us in the "Where's the Prez" drive on Saturday. We had a beautiful drive in SW Wisconsin and then a good meal at Vino in the Valley. I think there were about a dozen p-cars and we saw a lot more on our drive. I was surprised that my C2 was the only air-cooled. It could have used some air-cooled company!

Hi Hal - I wanted to but I had too many chores to take the whole day off, however I was able to sneak a couple hours drive and headed West. I did Vino in the Valley last year and those roads are fun, it looks like you guys had a ball and the weather was excellent for the drive. If the weather holds, it looks like we may be able to have a couple more weekends to enjoy before putting them away.

It's the lights behind the dials and I bought the kit from Tore Bergvill.

No time to take it to the track, but I might go and take it for an early morning cruise with this nice cold front here in South Florida :-)
Feels like California :-) 65F this AM, should be the same tomorrow.

Found my emergency release cable is missing for the engine compartment though present on the front. Anyway, I'll fashion one from some bicycle parts i have around the basement. Really like the idea of using some bicycle shift cable housing to make it paint friendly and easy to operate. May do the front that way too if works as slick as I think it will

Don't need this to happen to me. https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ncy-cable.html
