Question 964 RS door card - wet door pull when rains

As title states, the red door pulls on my RS door cards get a bit soggy when it rains (or after some car washes). I have yet to pull the cards and spray the outside to see where it's coming from but figured I'd check to see if anyone here has had the same experience and fixed it, or is it "normal"?

LHS door pull does the same on mine. RHS stays dry. Must be something to do with door membrane but I couldn't see any difference when I removed both the cards.

same here. I've replaced the membrane and also the felt seals at the bottom of the side window (the old ones were rotten) but no difference.

I too was getting some leaks behind the door cards even though I had fitted new membranes. The water was clearly dripping between the card and the membrane (not from the door cavity so the membrane was clearly doing its job).

It turned out that the water was getting in through the holes that the out side black metal trim pieces fit in (the pieces that secure the outside rubber seals/scrapers). When you remove the trim you'll see there is some black tape that provides a seal for the spring clips. Once the trims have been removed a few times, that tape no longer seals. I replaced some of it with electrical tape, punctured it at the holes and put a small blob of silicone sealant on the holes before replacing the trim.

This stopped the leak but I would suggest the proper fix would be to get some of the correct sealing tape.

Thanks! I'll have to check those trim pieces and seals more closely!

I'm not 100% sure but the closest match I can find in the parts catalogue in the doors/glass section is:

000 043 129 00 - sealing strap roll with 10 metres

Just to add I installed a fix for the wet pull straps...

The factory glue a small piece of door membrane about 2 inches by 1 inch just above the catch lever arm that the strap bolts to. These seem to be either missing or folded so that they dont work.

I replaced both sides with a bent piece of ally (mine were rubber edged ally from the oil cooler) these are fixed witha bolt and sealed to the back of the door with caulk/putty...

You need a piece of plastic membrane mounted just above the door pull.

My passenger side door pull leaked but the drivers didn't. I didn't know about the membrane flap so checked after reading this. The one on the passenger door was stuck up and not hanging down loose. Pulled it back back down - easiest fix ever. Thanks guys

Thanks!
Will have to check for a flap or put one in.

As said above I had the same problem. But during the winter I found a thread, probably here, with a fix that worked. I've now washed the car twice and my door strap is dry.

Seal nr 4 (above nr 5 and you see the tabs as nr 4) in the pic is just pressed down in 5-6 holes at the top of the door. Between the door skin and the seal there's a black tape which works as a seal of the holes. This tape only works once because you push the locking tabs thorugh the tape. You can buy a "porsche tape/seal" but I just took som black PVC electrical tape. Just lift the old seal with a flat screw driver, remove the old tape. Put on a new strip of tape and press the seal back in place. Done! Takes 2 min per side and costs zero.
