Haha, well, it's not done yet! That was my mock up. The shift pattern is all wrong, the shaft is a 10cc syringe barrel, and the shift boot is a used paper towel!

But, i successfully pulled out the shift emblem, and will order a bmw one on Monday.(same shift pattern.)

Member Geordie is sending me his old black boot, that i will chop down.

And when i find out the length i'll need, i will fabricate a little sleeve to put down over the exposed shaft.

928 motorsports has an adapter to add an aftermarket shift **** ($20)

nice look ... how weighty/heavy is the black one you bought?
A bit more heft makes the shift smoother

Hi Streetdaddy,

How are you getting on with your shifter?

I've been in the same predicament as you regarding the Dansk SC style shifter **** which I also feel is a little light. I had an SC back in the early 80's and it didn't feel like light at all.

I was planning trying on having an aluminium insert with the G50 shift pattern for the Dansk **** but I've decided to go down another route. I've had one made from the heavy hardwood ebony to similar dimensions but not like the Singer shape and finished with clear lacquer.

Complete with insert for the Porsche stick.

My next decision is do I leave the boot exposed and have a tray made or have a leather gator? :roll eyes:

Cheers,
Paul

This looks awesome Paul. Would you mind sharing where you ordered the **** from and which style it is? Still looking forward to the results from Streetdaddy, but this would be a very nice option as well.

Hi LPMM,

Thanks!

I had it made by www.customwoodshiftknobs.com I'm sure they have been mentioned on here before somewhere.

If you contact Elihu he has the custom dims. of mine - 45mm dia. sphere and 75mm length, similar to the Dansk style fitted in the Singer.

The item number of mine for reference is 719.

Cheers,
Paul

Hey guys, thanks reviving the thread. I have been busy lately but still wanting to get mine complete. I received a old stock silver **** from the factory with the correct shift pattern. It looks/feels good. Nice weight to it.
I like the leather gaitor cut down, and have found the perfect stainless steel sleeve to cover the shift shaft.
I do like the rubber boot look ala Singer better, and have spent time looking for a way to re create that. If anyone has ideas let me know. Haven't found a solution yet.
I need to see if he wants to go ahead with a run. I tried to put out feelers to see how many people would be interested. Got a decent response.
Let me try to contact him again and see what the latest word is.

Paul,
That looks very good. Let me know if you need a stainless steel shaft. Measure how long you need and i can get you one.
Does your adapter stick out below the ****? If so, you may need to dremel out a little of the ss sleeve.

Hi Streetdaddy,

I may take you up on that thank you. Your's does seem a very good fit on the shifter. I'll measure up when the **** lands next week.

Thanks again,
Paul

Hi Streetdaddy,

One beautiful solution by Rob could be adapted, it means a centre console delete unless of course your imagination takes over
