Low Oil Pressure causing me concern
#17
Sounds like a good idea. Does the gauge screw into the pressures sender plate? Are there are few adaptor pieces I'll need to source to set it up? If so, any idea what the thread is in the sender plate?
I'm planning to go with CASTROL GTX 20w-50 oil for this test. Any concerns?

I think this is the kit I was able to borrow from Autozone.

I'm all ears for suggestions. I'm looking for a quick test to rule in our out significant engine work. My cab runs 15w-50 mobil1 synth but for a test I thought it to be a bit expensive no?

FWIW, the Mobil V-Twin 20w-50 oil is far superior to the 15w-50 product.

Also (sorry for all the self-replies), but if I remove the bottom vertical pressure relief valve, do I dump all oil? Or is it only a small amount that dumps compared to the oil dump plug?

Following the DIY "hemi manifold-ectomy", I've successfully removed the pressure sender and am awaiting my new VDO unit to arrive tomorrow. I also decided to remove the pressure relief valve (yes, you lose all your oil) so I drained it all properly and filtered it through. Looked reasonable. I reinstalled the RV and will top up with fresh oil tomorrow. My only decision now is whether I install a mechanical gauge and reassemble, only to have to pull it all apart again to install the sender later.
Anything else?
