I bought a steve wong chip recently which is a little tricky to put in, but now that I know how to do it, I could do it in 15mins

I also decided to get rid of my rear wiper, I have driven the car in the rain a few times and I know I will never use it.

step 1 remove rear wiper motor etc

step 2 plug hole

easy

I also bought a pair of the aero mirrors to help update the look of the car, I will be installing them shortly

turns out my engine has a broken headstud...
so the engine has to come out, which led me to remove the sound pad which was dry rotted

and after, I really don't know how anyone could do this without removing the engine, it was messy.

the engine out

this is where it is at currently

you can see the black part on the head where stud was broken, on the upper left hand

this head had some mild seperation on the left side as well, from the head bolts being stretched

I've decided to put in ARP head studs so they won't expand on me, Im also getting new cylinders & cylinder heads to update the engine to the 92.5+ 964 which had head gaskets to prevent leaks down the road and keep better compression numbers. I am also getting the head ported and polished. Basically this will be a new engine except for the small block. I am also getting every seal replaced so that once this thing is back together it will be reliable for a long long time. I am also considering powder coating a few parts like the intake manifold and the fan. Probably just go with a gloss black.

The cylinders are on the engine, and the heads came back from the machine shop, not too much longer and it will start looking like an engine again!

Wow, you've been through and done a lot to your 964 since you bought it last August!
Hope the kid is doing great too!

JC,

May I ask a naive question, what does block stripped and cleaned entail and did the machine shop do that process?

Curious, where is all the tear down and build taking place, i.e., your garage?

The Porsche shop doing the rebuild cleaned up it for me. By stripped I meant removed all accessories/wires/heads/cylinders down to the short block. Then it was wiped clean with a lot of paint thinner. The shop doing it is called Performance Automotive in Malvern PA. They have literally rebuilt hundreds of these engines and could probably do it with their eyes closed

engine is almost done in these pics

I got the car back late last week, and she drives a LOT better than before. smooth idle and plenty of power. Feels like a lot more than before. The bad part is that its 10 degrees out, the roads are covered in salt and we are supposed to get 4 inches of snow tonight. In the garage it will stay...It seems like my Porsche was a little neglected when I got it, basically everything from the crank case out is new or rebuilt. I also had the AC updated to R143 since it had a leak before and r12 cost an arm and a leg. I'm feeling confident that I will have a lot of worry free miles ahead of me.

all back together.
