To be honest i love the Cobalt too.. But that colour just would not work with the Duck. Too modern. And I do like the Oslos

It's a tough one as these colours look so different in different light and on three-dimensional curved cars. I favour the older colour even though it appears darker. I'm sure both would be most excellent.

Default UPDATE

Right guys, was over at Tom's place on Friday, he sprayed a spare door panel up and also did some paint swatches. In the end we have decided to go for Adricatic Blue. The Oslo's looked good but I dont think they owuld have suited a car as modern as the 964. Adriatic is very similar to Arrow Blue but a shade darker. The pic below is misleading as to the Oslo's they're both much greener in real life.

I bought some CUP2s, am going to leave a silver rim and paint the centres black. Am hoping that it will give it a hint of retro so that it will look good with the Duck. However am keeping the silver Cup1s and the standard 964 rear deck so if it does not gel I can easily go back to the standard 964 look.

In addition to the repaint Tom is also sorting out the following..

- Getting the CUP2 Wheels redone as discussed, silver rim, black centres
- Brake caliper refurb and paint the calipers red
- Sunroof delte with FennLane panel
- Alcantara Headliner
- New front screen (through Fuch)
- RS rear screen (through Fuch)
- Cutting our the frunk floorpan and replacing with a new section. (Battery leaked some time ago and started rust)
- Deleting side repeaters and Headlamp washers
- Sorting out the various bits of rust that have started up in the usual places

Tom is going to weld the sunroof panel all the way round and remove the casette and other surplus bits. Alex CJ4 is getting them so he can try to trace the fault on his own sunroof.

Here is the Ducktail produced by Roger (modelled on Ivan's car..), excellent quality as usual. Can't recommend him enough. Tom confirmed the fit is really good, unlike some others he has worked with. A bit hevier than I was hoping but then thats where the quality is I suppose. Still a lot lighter than the stock lid.

Default 6 speed conversion

I've also just bought a 6 speed box from a 993 for a conversion to C2 spec. unfortunately it is a G50/20, not the shortened ration G50/21. But I spoke to various people who said the ratios would still be an improvement on the current ratios of the C4, plus I bought this so cheap it could not be passed up. I spoke to various people and decided that the job of sorting this out will got to 9M. Lots of other places have done conversions from C2 964s to 6 speed boxes but I know Colin has done this recently and knows his stuff so comfotable for him to do this work. Probably in April.

I will soon post all the additional parts I need to get hold of, so far I think that will be:

1. The C2 driveshafts..am probably getting the hollow RS items
2. The gearshift linkage.. possibly RS
3. The Carbonetic LSD
4. The gear level console

Luckily it seems I can get away with using the current electronics, others in the past have said this is not possible but I know a few who have retained the current C4 brain and that is what I will do. Including keeping the C4 assisted braking system.

Great stuff. Do document this as much as possible, parts needed, etc. Would be so helpful to many that have queried the idea. Inc me.

Unless you want to cut the front driveshafts, you'll need C2 front hubs too.

+964 Great stuff

Make sure you change your thread title to C2, any idea how much weight this conversion will save you?

I'll have a pair of C2 front hubs, centre bolts, ABS toothed wheels, everything you'll need to convert the front to no wheel drive going spare towards the end of this year.

PM me if your interested

It's amazing how grotty that area gets. I decided to NOT refit the rubber panel gap trims that are pressed in between the top of wing and scuttle panel as it just forms one nasty moisture trap. Looks better without it IMO too

The 993 g50/20 ratios are near identical to the 5 speed in the C2 with the addition of an overdrive 6th. At the limiter G50/03.... 41/69/101/132/164. G50/20 runs to... 38/71/103/129/157/186. Second and third in the G64 are fractionally shorter than in the C2.

That's what I've been saying and suggesting a g50/21 or g50/3x (££££)

But the advantage if he goes through with it would be weight loss and rear wheel drive.

Personally I'll be changing ratios one day and keeping C4 or g50/21.
