The Conti DW is likely more tire than you are a skilled driver (well I know it is in my case anyway). The main thing I noticed over my Pilot Sports was how quiet they were in comparison. After almost 3 years I now notice how well they wear and what a bargain they were. Without a doubt the best tire I've ever bought for any car when I consider performance, longevity, comfort, and cost.
Tbennett, i do have a c4. It has aftermarket 17" wheels. What issues are you talking about?
You can also search for this, but as it is an AWD vehicle, it is imperative that all four wheels have the same effective rolling diameter. As even the stock 17" rims are actually different widths front to back, you need to find a tire manufacturer that can ensure that your different F and R tire selections will be close enough in size... otherwise your differentials will be really active in handling the different roll speeds of your front and back wheels. It gets messy.
This isn't a problem on the C2.
The Conti DW that Steve at Rennsport recommends come in the correct sizes. If you like I can check my car later to get you the exact sizes that work. I might have selected other brands but they didn't come in exact enough sizes at the time.
I really dig the Contis though. All the grip I need, and quiet as a church.. compared to what I had on there before.. an aging set of Michelin Pilots. (I think they get louder as the rubber ages and hardens)
I have the Sumitomo HTR's on my C4 and I have been quite happy with them - they were great at a DE event in the spring - squealing, but not crazy. Overall, great grip, very nice in the rain too.
