But if you wanted heat it wouldn't be difficult to enclose the pipes somehow for heaters.

Honestly, you could probably just put a pipe going down under the engine bay and there would be plenty of heat to pull from. Enough to defog the windows if it rains, I would imagine.

I'm in Calgary, Canada. Without decent heat I'm greatly limited to how long I can have the car out.

I wonder if I can somehow re-use or re-work the old heat collectors on new headers.

Hmmm... that might be a thought, but I'm not sure I would want to hack up any of the original equipment, or modify it in a way that I couldn't return everything back to original. I'll be looking into ideas of how to pull heat from the headers, but I'll be interested to see what others come up with in the meantime.
