Default Launching with LWFW

How in the heck do you launch (with a lightweight flywheel)? If I rev to 2-3K and let the clutch out I either slip the clutch or stall. I find I'm best if I raise the clutch to just near the biting point, hit the gas and let the clutch out.

(Keeping in mind I just learned manual with this car)

I like to get the car rolling, easing the clutch out, then when fully engaged hit the gas firmly. These cars do not like to be ham fisted! Easy inputs but with a firm hand and they will give you whatever you want. Like a good woman

i "launched" a 996 once. it didn't go well ($$$). i will never again just dump a clutch in a 911, or probably any car. its really hard on lots of parts, and for what??

I've always found that all pre 996 911's need a certain amount of delicacy when letting out the clutch. Not sure what difference there is between the DM clutch and LW, but practice makes perfect.
There aren't many people that have never driven an air cooled 911 that haven't stalled it several times the first time they drive one.

It's really fun in my car with the 5.5" Tilton and 5lb flywheel.

Like an off/on switch that must not be slipped at all.

If you are not running a DME chip, consider steve wong's unit to make the process a bit easier.

I have a slightly different take on this. I didn't find it more difficult to get the car moving but the technique is a little different. The LWF does seem to like more revs to get going but not in an extreme way. I had the RS clutch and flywheel in my car with no other mods for 50+thousand miles I owned it and found drivability to be pretty good, even taught my daughter to drive a 5 speed on it. And as far as using an easy touch, in my car it much preferred a firm touch. Car was always at its best when given the spurs as opposed to tooling around town, but it could do that too.
