It is for the High Intensity Windscreen Washer, it was an option on US cars (Code 286), my car has it.

Can you use regular windshield washer fluid in this high intensity tank? or do you have to use the special Porsche silicon remover?

I think you can use either, but I've never used it on my car.

Has anyone ever broken off the cat heat shield support bracket from the heat exchanger pipe? If yes how did you fix it? Welding, replacing the heat exchanger or did you just ignore it?

Anybody know what, if anything, the Motronic system does differently at high speeds (50+) vs. low speeds? Took the car out for some highway exercise yesterday and cured my CEL flashing issue (temproarily at least).

I'm still thinking that I need to replace the spark plug wires (for lack of a better reason for the flashing CEL), but wondering if the mis-fire sensor would miss the information at high speeds - but not necessarily higher RPMs.

Default Any idea what this switch does / did?

Hi
My first post and a bit embarrassing, but recently got a 964 C2 man project car and have this switch on the drivers side of the centre console.
Anyone know what this switch does / did? I have taken out the panel, nothing is plugged into it and it has a light beside it. I can't find it in the manual..... standard fitment or not?
Thanks!

Not standard fitment. Typically, back in the early '90's, mobile brick phone attachments/cradles were fixed to the side of the tunnel and any leads, connectors too (Porsche provided the cut out/flap for accessory mounting access). However, in your case I would guess this as being potentially some previous or current aftermarket immobiliser or alarm association? What happens when you use the switch - any change to anything?

Thanks for your quick response!
I think you're right, something has been attached there in the past. I've had a poke around and it's not connected to anything now.... but think that handy little panel may be useful in the future!

Has this question ever been addressed here before? I am gradually reading from the beginning and currently on page 40 of 87 on "The silly little question thread"... Mine exhibits the same challenge except mine is on the driver side...

A bit dirty... If pitted contact surfaces then it may be prudent to price up replacment caps and rotor arms. Otherwise some gentle rubbing with fine grit emery paper to bring back the shine and more contact area should work.

I'm just about to do a brake overhaul and plan on pulling the calipers off for a repaint whilst I do the rest of the work. How are you guys blocking off the brake lines whilst the calipers are off the car to stop the fluid seeping out. Last time I ended up with a small plastic balloon full of fluid on each corner when I used cling wrap and tape. 😒

Neil, when I did my front shocks I had to undo the brake lines. I used a brake line crimp on the rubber portion but still had some leakage. I read that leaks can be stopped by wedging the brake pedal down which closes off a valve in the master cylinder, which is probably a better option than crimping lines.

I have a C4 with 17 inch rims, but the original space saver spare wheel which is 165/15. Does anyone know what the circumference of the inflated spare is? I want to know so I can check if it's within the C4 tolerance.
