Another autocross consideration is tire weight. I found that among the Extreme Performance tires, the tire weight can vary up to 3 lbs. for the same size depending on brand!

Was trying to eyeball any obvious vacuum hose problems and I came to see that the sensor boot on the CHT sensor was cracked. IS this just normal stress from the way is angled?

Looks like wear from rubbing against something or something hot for a long time. I would fix it with some black RTV or something similar but the wires are in good condition so it isn't a problem. I would clean the entire area as well.

Sounds good. I don't think its from the rubbing, in the picture I'm holding it stretched out, but when it was plugged in, it had a sharp 90degree angle where the split is. I'm assuming over time it just cracked.

Q2:
As time for a true silly question; I'm considering using incense sticks for a small DIY smoker for the vacuum lines. Is this ok? Or would it leave some type of residue inside the lines?

I don't think you will get enough smoke with an incense stick? And I'd be reticent to put anything burning near the fuel lines. Just in case.

Do you have a friend with a vapor pipe? Or anyone that smokes?

LOL good point about the fuel lines. Those vapor pipes make a huge amount of smoke but only work if you inhale.

I have to check I might have one of these someplace. I have leak detectors for all types and other tools not sure if this is still around. I also have C0 Detectors and freon.

Although I wonder if something like this to test your smoke detectors will work,

No, they don't actually produce smoke, it's just a chemical that disrupts the beam in the detector and sets it off, it's used because it dissipates quickly and doesn't leave any residue.

I was planning to use a few sticks in an empty pickle jar that has two nipples in the lid; one for a small hand pump for old air mattress, and the other for a hose to plug in by the vacuum lines by the ISV. I'm just curious whether the smoke may leave some unwanted residue inside the lines.

Alex, go get some dry ice. It produces more smoke and safer?

I made a smoke machine using a 55 gallon drum dry ice and a hair dryer in HS for a school dance. It has been so long I forgot if we submerged the dry ice in water or not to make it really smoke.

I'm going to say the make that really smoke, you had to submerge the ice in the water...

Sounds like fun though...maybe I'll put a couple of those in my garage around holloween when I'm out there working and wear some fangs just in case the neighbor kids pass by to see what's going on...

This is a rough idea of what I wanted to do:

I thought about the dry ice as well, but could there be a chance that it will leave some condensation in the lines?

On a side note, a funky FPR would lead to starting problems not just severe idle hunt, correct?

Same thing with coils? I haven't tried starting on either one yet, plus there is way too much salt around me to leave the garage anyway.

You should be fine but might try the coils in the garage. Have you checked your distributor belt? If you are only running on 6 plugs that could throw things off.

I've been meaning to ask this since buying my car....
Does anyone else's car beep while driving and the door locked?

It's the alarm, but why is it beeping (every 30 seconds or so) and pretty quietly too, but enough to be annoying, while driving?

Can I disable this? I've been driving around with the doors unlocked to avoid it. Kinda driving me nuts.

Car type C2 C4? Are you sure it is the alarm or could it be the buzzer on the dash not working properly?
