Default Sunroof velvet seals - how well to yours fit?

Hi Folks, some advice needed, I know like me a few of you have had your cars painted the last couple of years, and I wanted to hear from you to see how your sunroof seals came out.

Basically the new seals seem to be a different fit to the old ones, meaning when fitted in the same way as the old seals were there isn't enough room for the sun roof panel to fit back in the hole and it catches and pushes and lifts the seals in an ugly way.

The only way round this seems to be to fit the front seal so the loop of the P is above the surface of the roof, but then the rear seal which is stuck to the sun roof panel is too thin (leaves a 3-4mm gap) and sits lower (flush with the roof). Of course this doesn't really look right and isn't at all watertight.

I'm aware of this useful thread on pelican:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-87-911-a.html
But it is a little old so perhaps this was using the old style seals.

I've basically been without the car for 10months and this is the last hurdle, any help would be really appreciated.

alex make sure you have porsche seals not patern seals as design 911 sent me patern seals at first and there poop...the info on the link is spot on..

flat side to body & the p to the inside of the sunroof hole & the seal sits level with the roof line not above....good luck : )

I had my seals done a few years ago. The front is ok but the rear never seals properly on its own. I need to address that. They also "fixed" my front hood seal and screwed that up too. So needless to say I'm not using then anymore..

The DIY thread on pelican makes it look easy. Who has done the sunroof seals and is it that easy to do?
