Introducing new Rennlist site sponsor: FUNCTION-FIRST Performance

TRANSMISSION MOUNT INSERT
Fitment: 964/993

The OEM transmission mount was designed for ride comfort and is prone to sagging and tearing – above all, it is a detriment to performance. Its empty voids allow for too much transmission movement, resulting in sloppy handling, numbed responsiveness, and imprecise shifting. Racecars utilize a solid metal mount to mediate this, which is impractical for street use as it transfers extreme noise and vibration into the cabin.

So how do you achieve the benefits of a solid mount while retaining daily drivability? Function-First Performance offers the only available solution that is both economical and easy to install. Our durable urethane rubber insert simply slips in to fill and fortify the empty voids of the OEM mount - prevent premature bushing wear and undesirable transmission movement, all while transmitting minimal added noise and vibration.

The result? Handling is taut and predictable; power delivery is immediate and smooth; gear changes are crisp and confident.

Installation can be completed with basic hand tools in about one hour. Pressing out the stock transmission mount bushing is NOT necessary, so you can easily return your car to stock condition when selling!

Thanks!
Luka

Interesting. Can you share a testimonial or two of other 964 owners who have installed these? Many Thanks, and welcome to the board

I would definitely be interested in hearing a review of these from someone who has had first-hand experience with the OEM mount, the RS mount, and the Turbo Kraft mount. Where would the NVH of these inserts fit in the scale of those 3 options (listed from least to most harsh)?

Do you have a distributor in the UK? with import tax and postage it would be a bit expensive to get from the USA..

If you are willing to provide a 964 insert along with 2 company decals for sponsorship/reviews I'd love to try your product in my 964 track car

I just bought a set...Will post back once they are installed...It's a good idea - not sure why it's better than a new mount - but maybe it does all I need with the added benefit of ease of installation....lets see...

The turbo Kraft mount was very harsh. Tons of vibrations and nise. Def a track only unit. I went back to stock. I always thought something was broken w the Turbo Kraft.

I just wanted to clarify that the version currently available (and pictured in the original post) will only fit 2WD models.

An AWD version is currently in the works, and I will let everyone know once that's ready. Thanks!

This unit was developed to be a streetable upgrade, striking the delicate balance between performance and daily drivability, and as such will add only minimal NVH.

Other than enhancing performance, the main benefit of the Function-First Insert is due to its "additive" design:

By filling the voids of the OEM bushing, the likelihood of mount failure is drastically minimized, and unlike other solutions on the market, these inserts can be easily installed into 2WD models with the transmission still in the car. Best of all, your car's value is preserved, as no OEM hardware is permanently altered.

These diagrams should give a general idea as to how the inserts fit into the OEM trans mount bushing and bracket.

The Inserts slip into the existing OEM bushing (red circle) from either side, and upon reassembly, they are sandwiched by the transmission mount bracket (green circle). No pressing out of the OEM bushing is required, and nothing on the car is permanently altered! Installation should take about one hour on jack stands, and even faster on a lift.
