964 next to a 991 (pictures)
I stopped at the coffee shop yesterday morning and saw a empty parking spot next to this 991, so I took advantage of that and snapped some pictures , let's see what you guys think , old school or new school?

996/997/991 are so large compared to the 964. It's a nice reminder of how tidy a package the original LWB 911s are.

#5 is the real shocker in a pretty profound display. A 911 on high fructose corn syrup.
I thought that the reason I like cracking a beer and just staring at my car after I wax it had to do with whatever imprint the neighborhood 911 had left on me in high school.
This montage proves it runs much deeper than that. Great comparison.

Race Car
Ha! I did something similar last weekend ... looks like two (snotty) hippos and a (mighty) mouse!
Interestingly the design cues are still visible - who would have thought the aero mirrors would still be around!
but in my book, once the headlights loose their roundness and the fenders their torpedoes .... you're lost!
(this excepts the GT1 and any other race car for that matter )
ps - should I be worried to see Audi language in the new Pana's grill/faring? :doh!:

I think we would get the same size shock if we put the Original Mini Cooper next to a New Mini, or a Ferrari 328 GTS next to a 360 Modena or a 458 Italia.
Yes the car got much bigger over the years, what I will take my hat off to Porsche it that the 991 weighs the same as the 993 and very close to the 964, yet it is a much more powerfull, safe and confortable car.
As far as the Panamera looks, I think they are exagerated, when I look at the 991 the 917 comes to mind more then the Panamera.
Again the best is to be able to appreciate the old and incorporate the technological advances for the modern world, and I think Porsche has finally built a car, the 991, that is worthy of being the successor of the 993 and 964, which in my opinion, were the best Porsches built.
964 -- Curb weight 1,375 kg (C2); 247hp,
993 -- Curb weight 1,390 kg (C2); 272-285hp
991 -- Curb weight 1,395 kilograms , 350hp
991S -- Curb weight 1,415 kilograms, 395hp
Ferrari 458 Italia: Wheelbase 2,650 mm (104.3 in) Length 4,527 mm (178.2 in) Width 1,937 mm (76.3 in) Height 1,213 mm (47.8 in) Curb weight 1,485 kg (3,274 lb)
Ferrari 328GTS: Wheelbase 2,350 mm (92.5 in) Length 4,285 mm (168.7 in) Width 1,730 mm (68.1 in) Weight 1,128 mm (44.4 in) Curb weight 1,273 kg (2,806 lb)

If it weren't for Starbucks, some of these Porsches would not see the light of day.
And, Rudy, why aren't you parking in an end spot next the someone's potential passenger door? For crying out loud.

The 964 is built like Lance Armstrong.
The 991 is built more like Louis Armstrong, alas.
...and the Panamera looks as big as what Neil Armstrong landed on back in the summer of '69.
