Exhaust system question and a few pics of my E-Type Jaguar
Hey fellas,
After mucking about here for years as a mooch, I'm now a paying member! I've found this place to be a incredible wealth of knowledge that's very valuable to an owner of an older Porsche. I'm amazed by the ingenuity of this group.
So, I put my 964 on the lift and checked out my exhaust. Is what I have a simple bypass? It looks more complex. I love the sound of my exhaust note. It really makes the driving experience more raw.
I would never post pics of a non-Porsche car on this forum, but since a few people asked, I'll throw a few up! Thanks for all the kind words. My three daughters call the E-type, 'Grandpa'. Warms a car guys heart!

Post a pic from the driver's side, behind the rear tire. You might also have a catalytic converter bypass. It's hard to tell.
Wow, a car that still has the heat shield on the oil return line. Looks like the engine has been out/reworked judging from the cleanliness of everything down there.

What a gorgeous E-Type!
But yes to what the other guys have said...you definitely have a Primary Bypass (or Cup Pipe as its sometimes called), and you might have a Cat Bypass too, but it's hard to tell from this angle.

The U shaped pipe that is mostly hiding under the bumper is the bypass. The other U pipe that is more in the center of the photo is for the cabin heat. It's an odd arrangement the first time you look at the exhaust on these things.
I could stare at that E type all day!

Beautiful E-type
Here's a link I posted a while back.

The Jag is due back from a two year "spa treatment" later this year.
What year is your Jag? Those hard top two seaters are great. Much better than the 2+2's.

you have a very shiney and extra-heat protected oil line going on there. Could do my hair in the reflection of that pipe. Overall your engine looks good from beneath. No visible oil leaks. But the plate at the back of the engine (that one where the air for cabin goes through) is toast (bot a problem, but when your motor is shiney, older things start to attract the attention).

Thanks for the comments!
Yes, good eye. It is a 2+2. I didn't go looking for the 2+2, but the ungainly looks of the series 2 and 3 cars make the 2+2 more odd looking, while the series 1 maintains some sleekness. Also a huge plus to have a longer cabin and room for my daughters in back!
I'll shoot some pics of my 964 exhaust from better angles. Thanks!
