Default Street/DE tires

Hello,
What are people using/recommending on their cars for street and DE? I just got a set of 17" OEM CupII rims and need to buy some tires.
Someone on my local club mentioned an article in Excellence recently that covered 6 different tires that performed well and were 1/2 the cost of Michelin's.
Here is the list:
1. Toyo Proxes R1R (255/40ZR-17, price $192)
2. Hankook Ventus R-S3 (255/40ZR-17, price $155)
3. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec (255/40ZR-17, price $186)
4. Dunlop Direzza Zll (255/40ZR-17, price $184)
5. BF Goodrich g-Force Rival (NA)
6. Bridgestone RE-11A (NA)
Anyone with personal experience with any of these? I have a C2 by the way.
Thanks!

In my first few years of DE'ing, I went with a Toyo Proxy R1A. It was "good" for the occasional DE, but it let you know it was hurting in every turn by sqealing thru the apex

If you have spare set of wheels, consider devoted track tires, DOT legal, so you can go to and from the track, but not for everyday use. I use Nitto - N01's and really like them!

The disadvantage of using them all of the time is that when they are worn down too far for street use (both from a tread depth and wet traction), they are still good, if not better, at the track!

I hope to be installing these this weekend after I get my alignment sorted.

I hope to take them out to autocross the following weekend.

I had the Star Spec on my Toyota daily driver a couple years ago and it was pretty good. I currently have the RS3 on my daily driver and they're good but turn into skates when temps drop into the 30s.

I was going to get the RS3 for the Porsche based on price, but decided to pay more and get the latest fast tire (Rival) instead.

Used Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec last two years. Great in the wet but lots of noise at the limit in the dry. Did need to swap tires on the rim to a little extra life out of them. Can't do that with asymmetric tires.

Just installed Hankook Ventus R-S3s. Nice consistent grip levels with some noise to keep you honest. Haven't tried in the wet yet. Initial shoulder wear is better than the Dunlops.

I would have picked the Rivals but I felt they may not have great wet weather performance.

I do plan to have seperate rims and tires for the track. The car I just bought came with 16" CupIs that are not my favorite rims so I picked up a set of 17" CupII rims so for this year my plan is to do some DE but mostly street. So I wanted a tire that would serve both purposes.
Thanks for all the responses! Helpful info. I take it most of you are doing the same as me(street/track)?

Yoko's AD08 for sure

RS3's are good too if you want to save some coin.

Dunlop Direzza Z1 have rather impressive grip in dry conditions. I haven't tried them in the wet. I was surprised at how grippy they were compared to the R-compounds that I typically use at the track - at least until overheated, at which point they felt a little greasy. They wear rapidly in track conditions though.

I picked up a set of 225 F, 255 R 17" kook R-S3 to serve as my spare set for DE this year. I now have 3 days on them (one cold day, one rainy day, and one warm/hot sunny day) and am surprised at how pleased I am with them (my experience with kook V12 on the track was horrifying). The R-S3 might very well become my go to spare tire for next year as well. Nice grip, at least when at temperature, performed decently in the rain, and very nicely on a hot day. During The last run on the hot day I started to experience slight loss of grip - I don't know if I should attribute that to overheating, sub-optimal pressure, or to the track (everybody said it felt slippery out on the track towards the end of the day).

Anyway, to me the R-S3 seems to be a decent street/DE combo - nice on the pocket book too.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Rivals today. It seemed to fit in the middle for cost but towards the top for performance. I will report back on how the feel.
Great input from one and all!! Thank you!!!

I'll be very interested to hear how they perform.

BTW, were you at the Spring Fling DE this year?
