Default Parrot CK3100 and Glovebox removal

Hi all,

I'm fitting a parrot bluetooth unit.

I am thinking about putting the BT brain in the frunk. Does anyone know how to get the felt lined glovebox compartment out?

Also how do you push the cigarette lighter socket out without breaking it?

You don't want to remove the glovebox if you can avoid it as it is a PITA to put it back together again.

on the cigarette lighter also. Both are bears to take out and re-install. You will say things that you would not thought of before it started. I know, the wires fell off the back of my lighter and I spent about three total hours taking out the glove box, stereo, and other things trying t get it out and back together.

There are two tabs that you can look into the cigarette lighter and see. However when you use a small hook... you can work it out thorough the hole, but when you do, the wires are not long enough to pull out with it. You have to literally squeeze your fingers and hold the plug in place as you slide it back into its original hole.

This thread should help:

Once you have the glove box off and have removed the electric plug you can just push it out from the rear.

I fitted a CK3000 in my car, didn't need to take out head unit or cigarette lighter?? It was all plug and play with ISO connectors and there is plenty of room underneath to hide the boxes. I fixed the main Bluetooth box with double sided tape to a flat surface on the bulkhead and taped the loom together for a factory looking install. The call answer and end buttons I brought out by ignition switch and the microphone on the door pillar.

I can take pictures if it helps?

Thanks all. The reason I asked about the lighter is that it has a repair wire going to it directly from the what I think is the fuse board. I haven't traced it all the way yet. Its soldered at the lighter end and just dangles across to the right under the steering column and up past the ignition switch into the ether. I wanted to disconnect it to route it properly.

Hey Stan, you're right, I guess I'm over doing it! There are a number of places it can go and I wanted as much room as possible to make it look neat.

I have the 3100 with the LCD display, which I'm not keen on, but the kit was a used freebie so I'm going with it. A pic of your microphone placement would be appreciated.

Glove box is very easy to remove.

Remove the door - leave latched and remove 3 screws on the bottom of the door hinge. Open door and remove.

Remove the liner - remove all interior screws and the trick is to also remove the glove box light.

Takes me about 3 minutes

Thanks Mike. To do this I guess you have to remove the lower dash trim 1st?

I think Mike is saying that you can remove the door but need to leave it closed while doing it. Then you can take the door off and have access to everything else. I couldn't see a way of removing the door first so removed the lower dash. Hence mine took a whole lot longer!

No trim to remove. The screws that hold the door on are sort of on the back side of the bottom of the dash at an angle. Unless my car is missing a trim piece.

The only trouble is that the screw driver will have to go in at an angle and it will take the paint off of the slot on the screw head.

The screwdriver can go in straight, but the screw is angled towards the front of the car about 10 degrees or so. The screws are not painted. You'll have to see it to understand what I mean.

Don't the US cars have the glovebox lower down due to an airbag where the uk cars have their glovebox?
