Nice work, when I did mine I found the roof to be a pain mainly due to the rain gutters...... Needs lots of heat and manipulation.

John, there will be seams here and there. The 964 body is not always conducive to a full sheet without cut. The front fender around the headlights were a nightmare and I ended up having to cut the material to put a seam. I am planning on placing the roof, including the front and rear pillar as one piece. It sort of break at the gutter, which is the most logical place to put the seam.

Just wondering?
Gus, I am not sure if we are taking about the same material but with a soapy solution the material woudnt stick and would leave plenty of creases around the round edges. The 3M film has its own adhesive, wich stick like a mother f*,@#, and not paying attention the material will fold on itself and stick, then if attempting to peel back the glue will sometimes stay on one side of the film.

I have been traveling a bit so the progress is slow. But I managed to replace all of the seals/gasket. I also did the front bumper black seal which turn out very well. New seal relly bring the car back to life.
I am almost done all side with exception of the driver's door. Need to finish the rear bumper, retractable wing, and the roof section,... and it will be done. Hopefully two more weeks, just in time before autocross season starts.

By the way anyone knows how to remove the wing trim from the black grill section. Is this removable? The PET shows as a seperate part, so I am guessing it can be replace/remove. I need to wrap that piece in blue , and it would be much easire to do without havng to mess with the black insert.

Please provide any ideas or tips.

Thanks

That looks like one heck of a pain in the *ss to do by yourself. I tried carbon overlay on parts before and that was pretty tough. Good luck finishing your project.

I do vinyl wrapping as a living. For a first timer DIY, everything looks pretty good.

Subscribed. Great job so far and thanks for documenting the project. We're thinking about wrapping my wife's 996 and this thread is a huge help.

Looks fantastic! Any updates?

I'm getting ready to attempt a wrap myself in the next couple weeks. Any tips, tricks for the front fender and curve around the headlights?

I'd welcome your feedback now that you've been working on this for a couple weeks!

Great job - keep us updated.

looks like a big DIY job however.

How is the gloss finish? passable for paint or is delivery truck finish?
