Redline at high noon is easier for me to compute and see out of the corner of my eye, than redline hiding over on the right side at 3 o' clock. (or wherever it is, it's been a while?)

Haven't upgraded to a shift light...yet.

The shift lamp is heaven. I haven't once used the tach (not that I did much anyway) since I got it.

^^ that's the one Got it with the 996 cup then found a 997 cup wheel on RL so
now the 996 cup wheel will come to the 964 - hopefully next week.

Great Drive! Next time with some other 64s

Will post vids and review of the TLC requirements - need to order about 15 little bits/bobs like the clear cap next to gas tank filler lid
and the little guy on the driver side-mirror twizzle - review the little dribble of oil on sidecovers and plan the interior carpet issue.
Shift light sounds like a good idea - can you get rev limiters?

Main problem is the gear shift can move vertically about 6cm in netutral or in gear - feels a bit like the spring that acts to keep
the fwd gears seperated from the reverse is weak/sagging. Hope its just a u clamp. Ideas?!

But the torque is superb and while the ride is softer in the nose than I'm used to from the GT3s, it loves to point and squirt, rides smooth, not too hard and sounds like a proper air cooled 911
racer (without giving you a headache over 3 hours of driving!) Loving it!

WOW, wow, wow! That road is definitely made for a small car like the 964.

You are off to a good start with this car, and I really appreciate RL members who take the time to share some of their adventures with the forum. We all love pictures and videos right?! Loved the cyclist hang-loose wave @ 9:40...good catch!

re the shifter - great DIY thanks again. Got those #26 rubber sleeves arriving tomorrow so the cable ties I used today
can be relieved from duty. I must say the engineering on that piece leaves alot to be desired. All that remained of the sleeve was dust!

Why didn't they pin on either side or make the ends screw on or something? The cir clip is the weak link it seems (in my basic opinion).

When I refit, should I be greasing up the guide pipe? Anything else I should lubricate while I'm in there? Grease seems likely to last better than oil,
but it looked like the pipe was oiled when I handled it. Between the two boots that cover that area (top and bottom) there seems to be very
little contaminant/dust that can get in there, so oil might be fine?

I've also ordered the 944 part - the white hard plastic cup that the ball at the bottom of the shifter seats in. Just incase - it looks pretty dirty/unsmooth

Not going short shift now as I think the slightly longer shift/closer fulcrum is less work for the box and
from my experience with cup car I know that the slightly longer throw makes it easier to
'know' you're not in the wrong (money shifting) gear when the red mist rises

But must admit the stock (ball shaped) shifter feels and looks less than optimal. Will have to keep an eye out for something special.

just a quick note to say that I've received the original wheels - D90s 16in, Continentals - and after at first thinking I'd just try them for a moment,
I must admit the ride is superb. Its like the difference between racing skis and powder skis - these D90s are great for touring/carving/taking it smooth and easy (at a good pace )

They still fill the wheel well well and like I said, ride like butter - nice for a change from the Cup,
especially as roads continue to degrade on the back routes. Pleasantly surprised.

Oh and just to keep up with the 'development'- fitted a Parrot Blutooth screen so I can keep the Becker but plug in Ipod and cell features etc...
Nice mod link and keeps the dash stock looking (I mounted Ipod in the cubby and screen in the ashtray.
Also had windows tinted a bit - SA sun is hot and kills leather - and tomorrow to fit OEM seats, just to see what they're like.

Had alignment checked as steering wasn't right ie straight ... here's why & afterwards

Any alignment comments? Re above ^^^ ... How does this compare to your setup?
Car feels stable and wheels don't hunt on normal roads.
Tire wear is still to be ascertained it seems good.

This week I sorted the ABS - was the relay... Sourced from 924 scrapper
and the side mirror - was the wiring and one servo for the most part so new mechanism from OPC.
Had new mirror cut at auto glass place for 10% of the OPC part price and just stuck it on the backing
- thanks for all the posts re removing.

also cleaned the ISV and engine bay and removed rear spoiler to get into nooks.

Ordered a small whack of stuff - RS ducts, clear side markers, front strut brace, front/back lid supports,
rear engine bay sound absorber (will have to wait a while),
side mirror adjusting switch top **** (round thing your finger touches), door switch rubber grommet/covers,
side mirror securing nut - alloy clamping nut that holds the mirror to the body on the 993 side mirror diagram (pt 16),
So all the little bits are/soon back in place.

Now to fix the rear spoiler curtain and change the racing pads to stock and tappet cover seals ...
But that'll have to wait until the end of Jan as first track day next weekend

Dyno later today - don't want to waste valuable leave time

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun.

My BMW's been parked in my garage since early December. Alarm has drained the battery, it's completely dead now.

But I don't care. Been using my 964 as a daily and enjoying the drive, taking the long way to work and back every day.

I put my old 6Cup wheel in and the car feels great.

Didn't spend too long on the dyno but just enough to make sure
(as per PO) the car make 310 HP - here's a 4th gear run
