Jack,

Thats another reason I thought Robs option was a decent compromise

The car looks like it still has a sunroof, so no issue with cracking or weld lines showing though and you still get the increased headroom (I could really do with it!) and 90% of the weight savings.
To make it lighter still us e a FG or carbon panel, but the same method?

can't find the thread, what did Rob do? To be honest if I go for a delete I don't want it to still look like it has a sunroof..

Rob took all the sunroof guts out and I just welded the original panel in leaving the grove between roof and sunroof panel. We were going to add black sealer so it looks like the felt but have just left it painted.

That's my plan but using a bond in a flush fitting carbon bond in panel

Plan to do it over winter so I'll post up each step as it happens

If I can achieve the quality I want and if enough people are interested in paying the price for an accurate fitting high quality panel then I'd be happy to get a small run made

Still haven't decided if I'd prefer it with a smooth black bead of sealer around it or just as is

I was worried about the same thing. My body man was confident if we spot welded it in place it would crack over time especially for track duty so we welded the entire panel both inside and out giving the panel double strength. He guarantees me it will never crack. It was many hours work but worth it. Only time will tell but if it cracks he will fix it for free.

No lip all the way around - think the Fenn Lane panel is superior in this regard.
