Default Who has a car lift?

I'm thinking of a mid-rise scissor or the MaxJax 2 post.

I've had mine foryears...love it! Pro 6MR Mid Rise Lift. (back when I purchased it, all components were U.S. made, today, many have Chinese components)

I have a scissor lift. I also bought it a few years ago when they were American made. It has been great for working on both my cars, I even lifted my Dodge Ram a couple times high enough to do brakes and tires.

Does the scissor lift obstruct getting to anything under the 964?

I don't see any downsides to the MaxJax except for the extra $$$$$

Mike

I have no problem getting to anything on the front or back, since the lift doesn't extend there. The center area is generally open and accessible. I, and others, cut off the lift's rear crossmember, which didn't reduce the integrity of the lift.

One problem with the MaxJax is that the posts are on the side, so if your garage is not extra wide, you could have a mounting problem.

Default maxjaxx

Initially bought because of a price change in re-installing engine after a local mechanic had already removed it for me. Made the rebuild price tag a bit higher but oil changes are much easier now. And pissed the neighbor off with an 80's model corvette once he found out myself and another more experienced guy was about to reinstall the engine. The danmar company does want the unit in an enclosed area but for now i just make sure its not windy when i take her up.

I have a scissor lift. I echo LouZ's comments about the rear cross member. It is only in the way when you want to do an engine & tranny drop. Otherwise access is excellent. More than enough for my limited skills.

I did not go with a MaxJax because my garage floor is crappy and I have some infrastructure running under the concrete. I don't want to re-do the floor at this stage just to accomodate the lift.

I installed a Maxjax. Works well. I have no problems with clearances, although I do have a 2 car garage.
