Default CHEAP - Brand new replica Big Reds...

I don't know if these are any good - sold by 'Design 911'... Price is very appealing!

Brand new 'Design Tek' Big Reds - £399 inc delivery.

No affiliation.

Any insight?

They look ideal, I paid same amount for 928 'big blacks'.....

....don't forget you'll need the adapter plate (unless you're also converting to 993 uprights/hubs), discs, pads, probably best to go for braided hoses, racing blue brake fluid, and best to get the 993 master cylinder (though I think you've got a C4 and this may not be needed?)!

I've been reading through the threads - they seem to say one must also upgrade the rears (I'm a C4 so I already have the standard bigger rears)... ?

Yeah, I had to upgrade my C2 from 2-pot rears to the later 4-pots, which yours already came with......

Hmmmm... the 'responsible' thing to do would be upgrade before Spa/ Ring... Nope I feel 'irresponsible' I'm, not doing it!

Well at least I know where I'm going! Thanks mate

I would recommend a brake fluid change/upgrade before Spa/Ring if you haven't already...with a fresh set of pads at the very least...

...you might also want to canvass opinion of your specialist about geo and ride height for the ring....I kept running out of travel at the Fox Hole coz I was too low! Had to raise the car 10mm to cure the prob.

The way that I upgraded mine was to go to 993 uprights, ball joints and tie rods, big reds in front, 993 rears, 2 piece 993 turbo front rotors, and 964 rear rotors. After all was said and done, I can't recommend it more highly, if you are going to be doing track work. With pfc pads, it was hand of god braking. Plus, as a bonus, it cut my pad usage down dramatically.

What make is the 2-piece front rotor you're using?

Agree with you about the braking performance, I can repeatedly brake later and harder than my friend's track 944 turbo and he's got the MO30 upgrade on his!

Factory. I can't remember the part #, but the 993 turbo front rotor could be had as a 2 piece. But it will only work with the 993 knuckles, or with an adaptor that is different than most of the available ones. Offset on the rotor is different.

Factory 993tt front rotors are 2 piece, 322x32 w/ a fixed steel hat, Girodisk 993tt are 2 piece, 322x32 w/ a floating Al. hat.

Just as long as you want 993 o/s versions, remember that 964 rotor o/s is different from 993. To use the 993 rotors on a 964 you must also have alloy 993 wheel carriers, either std or RS will do, but steel 964 wheel carriers will not

Hi all,

May I ask what is the simplest way to bolt on the 993 calipers onto 964 without using adapter?

I ask because my 993 calipers are installed by previous owner. however, for the age of 964 in my country, require a government inspection every year for renew licence. Calipers using adapter to fit is not allowed here. I want keep using 993 calipers, but don't want borrow a set of 964 original calipers every year for inspection purpose. Please offer a simple and cheapest method for me. Listing out the parts required is appreciated. Thanks a lot.
