I like the supreme beauty of an unmolested 964, low profile but capable and strong

Default un molested is great BUT...

You would have to admit that both RUF and Gemballa (in its prime) did and do turn out some very beatutiful and capable cars. If the "Yellowbird" is not an outlaw, what is?

Unmolested is great, but they are built for mass consumption meeting DOT standards.... Outlaw by its very nature imparts something... well, just more..

Sorry to post again, I love the concept...especially if you are starting with a ratty car.

I'm a BIG longhood fan (one day?!) and am always interested in bringing some of the details/style of the older cars into 964s, they're all 911s. I understand the desire to keep a mint car mint. The quality is so high in these cars, that it's really fun to see a 100% stock car that is 20 years old and looks 99% new. But, if your car has tons of road rash, some rust and a worn interior...

Speaking of elements:

Perlon headliner - If my car didn't have a sunroof and my headliner was sagging, I'd do this: (Perlon install)
Aluminum dash Or lower dash delete.
Relocate buttons and switches to radio block-off plate
Drilled metal interior door handles (hate the plastic handle, doesn't match the rest of the quality feeling of the door)
Aluminum floor mats
Remove a wiper... (and pull the relay fuse so you can park the wiper where you want)
I also like retro seats and the vinyl pattern they used on the doors and dash in the early 70's...

I saw a sexy 3.9 this week that would fit the 964 Outlaw or R-Gruppe

3.9 with slide valve induction and the resonance intake on top. Distributorless, coil on plug, light weight custom pistons and rods.

Good to 8000 and +385 hp

No Pics!!

But it looked something like this

(same builder too)

agree, & this a favored set up of nakai-san....his last car (infamous 'stella artois', more a ratrod than an outlaw) was built out 3.8l with protuned header/exhaust system to create backpressure....admittedly looked strange.

in its last yrs he cut away complete rear assembly (which in addition to glass doors, hood, plastic windows, bare interior & all the steel cut away from under the flares...made the car remarkably light....

his client builds (interior/exterior) are meticulous....his personal cars tend to
his rough world concept (but afterall he sleeps in his shop & his desk is a pool table)...lean more to radrod....this is interior of stella artois

Speaking of longhoods, this one looks Outlaw to me, even though it is just a model kit. Stock body & paint, with an 'outlaw' stance / running-gear.

Does this count? Not performance oriented outlaw but I think most people would consider it some type of outlaw

Me too. The 964RS look. Low, tough and clean. Not showy, with just the stance and the rear bumper as a giveaway to what it can do

This is pretty much what I am after, lowered with an aggressive stance; possible air ducts in the front bumper (although I like the lights); RS door panels; upgraded seats; cup or g pipe.

The cars posted so far are great but probably a little extreme for a daily driver.

Thanks to all who have posted. Please keep the photos and ideas coming.

Default It doesn't need makeup to look good on a date.

Yeah, far from outlaw.... but you can't argue with the RS look.
That's one of the things that makes the 964 so special. It can be outlaw'd, backdated, and RBW'd...but if you keep things simple and just lower it, put Cup I rims on it, you've got the RS look.

That Altzen car looks insane...any articles on that car??

Here's some simpler stuff. Mostly just wheels and suspension

and my two favorite narrow 964s

I do not think outlaws and track cars fit into the same category. Both are attractive and share attributes of Sport Purpose. Outlaws are in fact hot rods that reflect the owners vision. They can be mild, subtle, or over the top. They often take clues from track cars and can be performance oriented but most are in the end street cars. Purpose track cars are focused and have no business on the street, nor do they work well in that environment.
I happen to love both, but recognize that they each have their place. I happen to be in the process of doing a 964 which when done, I hope is recognized as an outlaw.
I will post photos when it is far enough along.
