Default Steering Wheel Upgrade Photos - OMP Superturismo

After cruising with my 380mm wheel for a few months, it was finally time for an upgrade. Whilst tempted by this 360mm Club Sport which was perhaps still a little large and expensive ..

And also tempted by the 350mm GT2 RS but the additional offset seems to work for LHD cars but perhaps not for RHD cars ...

I ended up with this 320mm OMP Superturismo 997 RSR Cup steering wheel ...

Nice. Did the horn buttons come with it? I am still trying to decide between the MOMO or the OMP wheel.

Looks like you have a button for nitrous injection system and a button for warp speed. Sport steer looks better than original.

looks good.

Are any other materials required to replace the wheel?

Yes, the horn buttons were supplied. They were also installed and wired so it was ready to just connect the electrical spade connector and bolt on. I bought it from porscheshop so perhaps they wired up before shipping? Very easy to install even for me!

But after the install, my horns didn't work which was frustrating until I realised that I had only just completely removed the horns a few days earlier for repairs!

The only tool for an install is a 24mm socket (might be more if you have an airbag).

My steps were:
- rip off horn pad
- unbolt 24mm nut
- pull off original wheel
- connect electrical spade connection
- push on new boss/hub
- slip on 24mm nut and tighten
- use allen keys to tighten wheel to boss/hub

Completed in 15 mins.

The hub/boss supplied from porscheshop pushed the wheel about 1/2" closer to the dash compared to the original, so the clearance to the dash & indicators is only about 1" ... a lightly longer boss/hub would have been nice.

SML

When I changed my OEM wheel out for a Momo I bought a 1.25" spacer from Pelican that includes longer bolts. Results in a better driving position and a bit more leg room.
