Default Will a 993 lower dash screw straight in?

Just a quick question.

Will a lower dash section from a UK 993 screw straight in to a UK 964 with no modifications?

I seem to recal sombody doing this mod but can't find the thread. The bit I'm talking about tidies up underneath the dash.

Cheers

Assuming your 964 is the earlier type without the airbags and the smaller lower dash...

I did this mod on my non airbag '90 model a couple of years ago and it involved cutting away part of the metal dash around the ashtray and fabricating a couple of aluminium tabs for the ends to make the whole assembly more secure. It wasn't particularly difficult but a little time consuming.

I also opted to delete the original glovebox and replace it with the later airbag cover which also involved removing some metal from the glove box area and fabricating a mounting plate for the airbag facia.

It was worth it in the end and gave the car a much more modern look.

I installed RennLine's black aluminum race dash upside down in place of the lower dash/glove box/ashtray, and perfect fit. But because I did not like the drain holes, I called RennLine and ordered another with no holes or cutouts. Self tapping screws hold in place. Because it fits below the passenger air bag, no need to delete it. Very clean looking and very light.

Hi Pesty,

I did the 993 dash in my old 964. I had the airbag cover panels but in the end made a rotating hinge modified glovebox lid to clear the dash. The flat protruding upper portion of the 993 dash would normally stop the standard glovebox from opening. This meant I had two gloveboxes!! It was a great tidying up mod with extra storage!!

I did loads of mods including some nice subwoofers behind the seats etc....

I put my car back to standard when I sold it so have the dash, mounting brackets, glovebox lid, airbag covers (these are mega money from Porsche)etc all available to fit. Mine's is a leather dash which I dyed the correct colour. Also have the stereo equipment and RS seatbelts too......

PM me if interested at all? I'm near Watford in Hertforshire

Regards,

Gary

Could you please provide more info on what exactly and how you modified it. I have 91 964 and I deleted air bags and want to fit 89 glove box lid. Thank you.

hello, do you have a picture of the open upper shelf? I'm doing this too, but it beats the dash
