Default 964 Cup 1's...Made in Italy?

I checked through the search first. Are the factory Cup 1's from the 965 made in Italy. The P-car part number is there, but I was not aware the wheels were made in Italy. Just looking for confirmation.

Thanks all,

Chris

I believe that to be correct. Mille Miglia as I understand. Mine are replicas and they are marked Made in Italy.

Yes,

I think the set I am looking at on craigslist are actually replicas. The seller states that the 965 porsche numbers are stamped on the back. I just looked at photo's of the front face of all wheels he emailed me and they do not have the numbers 7 and 9 next to the valve stems, so me thinky these are Mille Millie replicas.

Thanks guys.......

You might consider them anyways. The Mille Miglias actually have a much better offset than stock cup 1's IMO.

They are ET 55's, the same as the turbo Cup 1's. I already have an oem set on the car, but thought a second set might be good to have, as long as they are oem. At $750 for a set of replica's, I'll have to pass.

Chris,
The factory Cups 1's are Italian, the set I have in garage are stamped made in Italy on back. The factory wheels also have the width and offset on each side of valve stem. The easiest way to tell if they are aftermarket is to look at lug holes, the after market wheels will have a slight flat area on hub side of hole.

^^ Yup, factory originals are Italian made and stamped as such. Did Mille Miglia make the originals as well as the replicas?

There are 2 manufacturers for the Cup 1's. One is made in Italy not sure about the other. Part number is identical but one ends in a .00 the other in a .01. They look identical from the front but different from the rear.

According to the seller, his set has these numbers on the back and also say "Made in Italy"

2 Front= 17x7= ET55=965.362.124.00
2 Rear = 17x9=Et55=965.362.128.00

He sent me pics of the wheels and aside from them having been polished at some point, they look like Cup 1's, other than the fact that there are no numbers stamped on either side of the valve stem. Did all the OEM Cup 1's come with numbers on either side? Did the Mille M. wheels come with Porsche part numbers stamped on them?

Thanks

The numbers are correct and should be raised cast numbers on the back of the rib. The numbers on either side of the stem should be raised also. It is possible they removed the numbers while polishing. BTW the speedlines are made in Italy, I don't know if speedline made the cup I's or if it was BBS.

I have seen some cases (not on the cup I's) where the same wheel by same manufacturer was supplied with and without the ET and width cast on either side of the valve.

So made in Italy would be correct. I believe the .01 version of the 7 & 8" cup I's were made by BBS.
