Well after another long period of inactivity on this project I finally managed to find some time to get back to it. With most "get it running" jobs sorted we tried to fire it up for the first time last week:

Hmm, everything working as it should but no start. Tried all the obvious stuff then went back and re-traced some of the wiring. There was 1 pin out of place on one of the loom plugs, once corrected we had another go....

Flicked it off quick as I have no PS fluid which I'll sort out tomorrow then fire it up again and get it nice and warm/check for leaks/noises. If its good I'll do the rest of the finishing off and get it ready for an MOT.

Good work mate, didn't take long did it & not a single gangsta fuel switch in sight.

Be good to get that one back on the road.

Nice work I am in the process of starting this project now. I am interested in your observations regarding the 993 vram engine in a 964. Do you have an Idea of HP?

I have a freshly rebuilt engine built for the track and have the option of N/A or twin turbo setup. Not sure I will need that much HP with the car weighing 2500 pounds.

Installing a VRAM will not have an impact on HP at peak RPM.
HP remains pretty constant between VRAM and None.
The significant increase is TORQUE. Torque really increases around
2800 RPM. In my case, and documented by NineMeister - Torque increases
About 28 to 30%. So much so there is a very noticeable seat of pants feeling
Of increase.

I can confirm this, a great conversion, great mid range punch

Thanks guys so we are looking at 290 BHP hp and xxx Torque? My current C2 is pumping out 290 BHP and 280 torque how much more torque and Hp might I expect with a chip and headers? looking for more upper end power.

Gus is spot on, headline bhp wont change much but hopefully a but more grunt. Once its all up running and sorted I'll take it for a remap and let you know the numbers. I suspect the overall package is lighter than the 964 lump that came out(certainly sitting a bit higher) due to the single box exhaust on the 993 lump so hopefully the conversion hasn't added any overal weight.

Did a few more jobs at the weekend including sorting out some brackets, fitting rear bumper and rear ARB, tidying looms up and generally getting it ready for an MOT. Need to sort the tailpipes out as they dont really fit the holes in the bumper and it needs a cracked screen replaced but then its actually ready to rock

Also fitted some new rear lights that have been sat waiting to go on, they really do make a difference!

Looking forward to having a drive now its almost done

Finally managed to get a new screen fitted and MOT passed - whoohoooo!

Got a few jobs little jobs to sort out and it needs to be lowered a bit but should be ready for some summer trackdays. Hope to head out for a decent drive later so will save any power comments until after then but seems to be plenty "go" about it.

Might need to look at revising the exhaust a bit, its canny loud:

This looks like a great mod, more torque is always good:-) The sound of the VRAM switching over is so cool, one of things I truly miss about my 993.

Great to see it back on the road and sounds good on tick over.

What's the plan for the quiet exhaust?

993 headers seem a bit of a bugger due to the flanges pointing towards each other making it difficult to fit a sensible sized backbox without doing silly crossover pipes

Can you open up & repack the M&K?

Nice to see this thread. A year and a half ago, I stumbled upon an 89 C4 with a 993 V Ram swap already complete. Against all common sense, I purchased the car with no history, but a PPI. It has been great. I sold my 88 Targa to my brother. Having never driven a stock 964, I can't say what the difference is, but it seems to pull like the proverbial freight train.
