Looking good Jev, the engine bay on Axemans looks a lot 'busier', have you got much left to hook up?

Was that fuel line the right one or NFG?

That first fire up can't be too far down the road now

Hey Joe thanks for the link - some very useful pics in there that will help me sort a few bits out.

Haven't managed to make any more progress but hope to get some done this weekend.

Did you guys remove the air induction? If so how did you cap it off? What did you guys do about oil and fuel lines pictures would be great if possible. What are you guys doing for exhaust? I have gotten some great ideas but would like to know what others are doing as well. Pictures if possible please.

Not sure what you mean by Air Induction - if you mean ICV, or ISV then it stays as do all the lines to and from. For the oil and fuel lines all remains as is if you use the stock manifold and fuel rails. If you change to Varioram then you have to sort out what line goes were, but it is pretty easy.

Hi Jevvy,

In your first post you say that the 993 exhaust won't fit and that you will keep the 964 system....this seems a shame as a lot of the power gain of the 993 is reputed to come from the better exhaust.

The 993 system does fit with a little modification, you just have to lower the mufflers by 1 inch....
On mine the top of the muffler supports are cut down by 1 inch and the inlet and outlet pipes modified.
It's a tight fit, but it does work.

How did you sort out the oil pipe ? Any photos please ?
Mine is an awfull DIY bodge and I wanted to fit the 964 hose in there the next time I do an oil change.

Hey dude

I'm using the 993 HE's but fitting a Magnaflow box onto them - you can see it in the pics on the previous page. This is a x-flow box that does away with all the other boxes and still lets you use the alloy heat tube. A mate of mine got his car remapped 326bhp from a standard vram with one of these exhausts fitted so I know they give good power and weighs much much less than the standard setup. Sounds pretty good too - here it is fitted to my older 3.2 doing a small sprint track, car has a non vram 3.6 running at about 290bhp:

I've pretty much sorted the oil pipes using all porsche parts except for 1 slight extension - not quite bolted together yet but will grab some pics when I do.

Have you seen the other 993>964 thread? Some nice oil line options in there too.

Just nabbed some pics for you...

Excuse the string holding stuff together and the fact nothing lines up properly but it was just a test fit to check it would all work.

Basically I used a ? shaped pipe the the early cars use when converting to SSI's(91110773910) and also a spare pipe a friend had which I think is from a 73 car with the oil tank in front of the wheelarch. This is the pipe that I will get extended slightly to reach the filter housing.

For the other oil pipe I used an adapter(also available from Porsche 964-207-317-00) which allows you to use the old 964 oil line (rusty pipe that goes into a rubber pipe)

To use the 993 headers one of the major changes to the headers is cutting the 6 welded attachment flanges off and re-welding them 90 degrees from original position so they will fit on the 964 mounting studs.

Correct, thats what is needed if you are fitting them to a 964 engine - only need to flip 3 of the flanges though

Default Looking good!!

Tony,

I was at the shop today. Picked up my 964. I'm glad the car is coming out nice. Can't wait to take a long drive in the cars.

After another(large) gap in proceedings and a load of wasted time refurbishing an oil tank(dont ask) I'm back on the case with this however I do have a Q. I was looking at all the vac connections and realised I was missing some bits compared to what I thought I should have. Comparing my engine to Joes(JM993) comversion thread it looks like my engine might have come from a C4 as it has no provision for the brake booster which is needed on a C2. Attached is the PET diagram of this area with red lines showing the split.

So it looks like I'm going to need to add some extra pipework to get a brake booster output but how much of that spaghetti junction is actually needed? Any ideas? Also does anyone have any C2 Vram vac stuff kicking about they dont need?
