Default Porsche Battery Maintainer Problem

So I'm getting my new 94' Cab ready for winter storage. I purchased a Porsche Charge-O-Mat Battery Maintainer that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I plugged it in 2 days ago, at which point the 2 month old battery was charged enough to start the car. although the red light on the maintainer came on when I plugged it in indicating it was charging not maintaining. Today I checked the car and the battery was completely dead, I mean nothing. The maintainer was still showing the red charging light. I also heard a clicking noise from the center consol which stopped when the maintainer was unplugged. It appears the maintainer being plugged in caused the battery to completely discharge somehow? I'm thinking a relay? Any ideas would be appreciated.

TIA

I don't think returning it is an option, I bought it new from ebay. I've used the Porsche chargers before without a problem on other Porsches. I just want to identify the electrical problem with the car.

Not necessarily a problem with the charger.
If you had a quiescent current problem (i.e. light on under the bonnet, etc), then the draw would exceed the capacity of the (trickle) charger to maintain and thus you would end up with a dead battery as you described.

OK I'll check everything light wise etc, but what about the clicking sound from the center consol when the charger is plugged in and could one light left on completely drain the battery to nothing in 2 days with the charger plugged in?

This may be a dumb question, but did you set the charger to "car" mode? It defaults to a lower current mode for charging motorcycle size batteries.

Rob:

Thanks for your reply, there is no car mode or motorcycle mode on the Porsche Charge-O-Mat. It just plugs in and either has a red light "Charging" or a green light "Maintaining".
