Think about this........you could buy 2 cars for $75K. A nice 993 with lower miles and a sweet 964.
You would still have plenty of bucks left over to play with the suspensions on both cars and be sure they are all tuned and at superior levels.
This is what comes to my mind when I see cars like this. I really dont think this car is any better than my C4. Same HP so what am I missing?
Nothing at all!

$75K. Interesting. I would wager a fair market value for that car as of last summer was $55K. So where is the $20K premium coming from? I have seen several 89s and 94s in the $60-$70K range, but all were asking prices for concourse cars with under 10K on the odometer. I am not certain as to their selling prices, but they did sell....
Let us know what happens. And yes, most people on this board would not be the typical buyer of the Speedsters. Most of my requests with the registry come from US and international collectors that want to round out their Porsche collections. With the dollar where it is, the international community is taking interest in US examples... With this interest, prices should rise as the cars are still very good deals compared to their home markets... I had just assumed that we had seen a peak last summer. Apparently not...
My $0.02,

Now don't get me wrong. I love ALL 964s. However, keeping low miles on the cars that I have listed above is a very good way to see decent appreciation relative to "standard" examples over the next several decades... If you want to drive a 964, don't buy one of these! The high mileage examples are worth much less!

That car looks a lot like mine which was stolen from my garage in Santa Monica back in 1997. I bought the car from the original owner with 6 k miles on it for 51k in Feb of 1996. I found a couple which were still unsold on the dealers lots at that time. Mine had the all black interior with the Recaro seats ( all black). I really liked the car one of my favorite 911’s that I owned. The only issues I ever had was the side clips for the top broke a few times. I ended up ordering 3 sets from Germany to have on hand.
A few months back there were 6 or 7 on the market all over the place. Most of them traded in the 50’s including one from Ray Joseph at RPM. I have seen a few offered at silly prices too. My 2 cents on 75k is that its not quite “silly” but I think it’s a stretch.

Three Wheelin'
I keep thinking a lot of this is also fueled by the leading edge of baby-boomer retirement or near-retirement money (the Barrett-Jackson Syndrome). When you look at what some of those jokers (I call 'em 'pseudo-collectors') will pay for a cloned muscle car (even models with not-all-that-much cachet when they were new), what would some pay for a car like this Speedster?
I keep hoping that mentality will eventually make more pedestrian cars like mine worth more, too. Maybe a dream, but I can hope...

Anyone know what happened to the ex-Barry Bonds chopped into a Strosek car? Clinton Wong from around here ended up with it in about 2000, and fixed the Andial 3.8 that was, uh, interesting when they took it apart. Anyway, it was that loud, loud, loud blue (not Riviera or Mexico).

I saw the ex-Barry Bonds Strosek in person in 2002, and it was "for sale" at German Autofest in Venture, CA that September. The theme that year was "Speedster Fest" so many 356/911/964 variants were in attendance. Not sure if it ever sold. Personally, I was not a fan of that car...

Wouldn't you know... a quick Google search yielded that the car is for sale for $90,900: http://www.xtrememotorcars.com/01/fo...for_sale1.html

Thanks! Too funny. But seriously, do we know what color that is?
And to reiterate, when Clinton had the "Andial 3.8" checked out, he basically had the thing redone at (from what I remember) a pretty astronomical cost to get it put together correctly.
