In regards to the USB to Serial converter, any converter with a FTDI chip should work, example here>>>>
http://www.parallax.com/Store/Access...%2cProductName
You'll have to down load the drivers. Works for me on Win XP.
Converters that use the Prolific chip and drivers won't be able to communicate with the Motronic ecu due to the odd 8800 baud timing, but airgag/ccu/alarm should work. Here's an example>>>>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...IES-_-12188102
Now for Mac's I have no idea about the use of Parallels, etc to emulate windows.

This post has some info on the software
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...t=264756&pp=40
To use my interface card or any other , you'll need scantool4.zip, a windows computer w/ serial port com1 available, or a usb serial adapter that uses a FTDI chip.
Elbeee has a compilation of the scantool's activities here
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ng+temperature
As of Scantool ver.4 , it will do system adaptation.

You are a star, I hope I'm not too late to bag one! I don't mind a bit of a delay, so long as I don't miss out.
E-mail on it's way, I think you may have started something here, good luck.

Hi
I've done a bit of searching and can't find the minimum OS requirements for the Scantool software - win95 (!) doesn't seem to work but I can upgrade my 'garage' laptop to Win98 - does anyone know whether it's supported?
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
Not sure about Win95, but 98 will work. Run software from unzipped folder where the scantool.exe resides. Also, have ignition "on" but engine not running. Have com port 1 available.

Hello - I see this thread started some time ago but I'm curious if I can get in on one of the scantools? I'm having climate control issues on my 91 C2 and think it's about time to know what the computer has to say!
Thanks!

I have only one scantool left and that's mine. I've been devoting my time to making a OBD1 scanner similar to the hammer, however if there's enough interest in more scantools I could make some more of these. If another person commits to a scantool, then I'll order the parts and make them. My PCB design is such that one order from my PCB manufacture nets me 9 boards.
The scantool is available at $130, shipping included for US locations. ($140 for overseas)
Paypal is recommended.

Software is here http://dedeharter.com/scantool/scantool4.zip
Once my hammer replacement is ready, I'll be offering a deal where you send me back the scantool so I can swap plugs onto my Hammer. Making these plugs has turned into a minimum wage job, not that there's anything wrong with that. Not only is the name of my device unknown , the price has yet to be determined at this time, but it'll be a recession breaking price ( no, not 700 billion dollars).
later, Kevin
