Default Dual Distributor rebuild

Hey all, saw this ad in the Peachstate region classifieds. Seems very reasonable, don't know him, no affiliation yada yada ...

I will rebuild your 993/964 Twin Distributor. (replace belt, inspect bearings and replace as necessary clean Lube and test) $125.00 plus shipping. Mark markc123@comcast.net Member #2004026635

Mark helped talk me through my belt replacement. He knows what he is doing, and seems to be an OK guy as well.

Why not do it yourself, I followed this http://p-car.com/diy/dualbelt/ instruction and ended up using about 3 hours.

I just used Mark to rebuild my distributor and was very happy with the job he did and his service. His turn around was quick (1-day) I shipped it to him on Monday and it was back on Friday. He was also ready with advice on how to remove the distributor and talked me through the problem I had putting it back in. It was getting hung up on the new O-ring. After a few calls to Mark (Thanks again) I used his suggestion top lube the seal with vasoline and that with some pushing got it in. I would recommed him to anyone that wants to have their belt replaced. The price was fair and with his help anyone can take it out, ship it, and put it back in.

It took me about 6 hours the first time (including distributor removal and replacement). Changing the belt is no walk in the park. Drilling out the pin without damaging the gear and shaft is a bit if a trick. Do not underestimate the difficulty of this procedure.

Mark charges $125. Compared to the $900 "rebuilt" distributors at the dealers, that is a bargain. If you enjoy a challenge, this is a great DIY project. If you are mechanically challenged, or don't really enjoy spending the time on projects, then Mark offers an excellent alternative to the dealer part.

Grief $900 sounds expensive for a re-built distributer, my specialist over here in the UK charged me £170 for the same ($300 ish) !

I just sent an inquiry to Marc at the above e-mail and had it returned as flawed address. Anyone have an update on him?
