Default 85 928S For Sale

1985 928S For Sale (not mine).

You can't beat the price, and who doesn't have a spare timing chain laying around?

AFAIK, every 928 made in 85 had a timing chain. In fact, they have two. I do have a spare chain if anyone needs it.

Four if you count the little chains that run the two distributors. Car is also listed as a 1984 in another ad. Apparently what I missed is that these were manufactured by PORCHE, not Porsche. I think PORCHE was like RUF, they added performance parts like CS wheels and lots of chains to the cars.

It isn't the chains that fail, it is the nylon timing gears...

Sounds like it needs a good battery. Wouldn't be the first time timing belt (oope, sorry--I mean chain) tensioner light magically disappears with correct voltage applied.

Spoke to Craig. Timing belt is busted. ODO says 28k, but this is doubtful given the condition of the interior.

Well it could be a fun project as long as you have your eyes wide open. The price they are asking is a couple of grand too high.
