Default Could a new 4.8L twin turbo fit a 951?

Has anyone thought about using a new Porsche 4.8 V8 twin turbo? Will it fit? Is it worth the 570HP? If I were to use a V8 it has to be a Porsche engine not a chevy.

I often wish my apr tuned Cayenne Turbo motor would fit in my 951.. I mean it sounds great and manages to propel the Pig way faster than it has any business going.. then I drive the 951 and realize with the basic bolt ons (big turbo , Vitesse MAF, exhaust/wg, etc) it is just perfect.

That said, I dont know if the new VAG V8 turbo is any smaller than the (colossal) 955T motor..

holy **** thats a big engine.

640 lbs is more than what a 928 engine, dressed and ready to run, weighs.
and you can get 7.0L + from a 928 block...

Check post by Flat6 Innovations. I would not do it unless it was redone by them or 928 motosports. Way more expensive than our engines to rebuild from the research I've found so far.

Wow that weighs a lot!!! And it's HUGE!!! I'm not willing to be the one to go that far knowing that information. Nice photo to answer the fitment question.

A racer here in Sweden fitted a 964 turbo engine in a 951. It was super fast and very reliable. That's a cool Porsche engine swap instead of those big V8:s. Low slung weight distribution as well.

That's a great visual as to why Chevy stayed with cam in block OHV design. It's much more compact that OHC designs. the Corvette keeps it's overall size and weight down by using an OHV engine. It also clearly illustrates why the LS series swap is so easy and popular across a variety of platforms.

I've often wondered about my 5.5 Kom, at 30in strut to strut with room to spare it would definitely fit the width, length also looks ok and it's not that tall as the SC is tucked well into the Vee. Renntech 580 hp would be nice in the 44 but will need to find a suitable trans. Hey, I can dream and at least it's from the same town in DE.
