Hi Max:

This is an awesome build and your attention to detail is outstanding! Do you think your builder can or is willing to make CF panels for a street car, with tight panel gaps, etc? Between lightweight panels, a purposeful interior without any frills, and a massaged N/A motor, I think we'd have a poor man's Singer.

I've been in touch with M Mount on and off about a 968 motor build. Do you think your motor can be made appropriate for a street car if the dry-sump equipment is removed? I'd have to retain a/c, power steering, etc.

Please PM or email me if you'd like to take this offline.

Great work!

SM,
In regards to a MM 968 build he has had great success with non-dry sump motors.
I believe MM not to long ago did build a street 968 without the Dry sump and ITB's and was making around 275 HP.
In regards to The CF parts Kyle has performed some great quality CF parts for both Jim Stevens and myself. My hood gaps are better than OEM. Please feel free to email me and we could talk.

Sorry for this interruption, Duke could you please PM me and clean out some of your inbox? I can't send you a message and I don't do Facebook. Thank you.

Max, that is one very nice build. I really like the roof as well. Nice new steering wheel too.

Duke,
I will confirm the weight of the CF roof this week, I have a spare.
Our target goal is to get to 2000lbs with 5 gallons of fuel(no driver)

I'm at 1950 with Most everything in the car. I still need pluming, a little bit more on the engine.. (header, Intake manifold, exhaust (will be aluminum) and fluids. I'm hoping to be right around 2100lbs. 2000lbs with 5 gallons of fuel is strong goal. I don't have any metal left in the car, except the bare minimum of a tub. not one steel panel is left. all cut out. It's all fiberglass. I even removed completely any metal directly behind the stock fuel tank. It a super light weight aluminum truss mixed with fiberglass. The cage added 150lbs The whole front end of my car is a very light fiberglass shell. If you get to 2000lbs, you will certainly be my hero. That said, I am certain in can be done.

Speaking of weight, I'm still waiting on your emai so that I can rectify, replace your bars. It would be better to talk face to face though. Way better if you could stop by the shop and visually compare 3 different upgrades of bars. I will PM you my phone number so that you can call anytime and talk about a fix / replacement bar for you. I have a much more durable one that I am finishing this weekend for my own car so I can verify fit and finish. I also made another one that can handle a direct hit from a nuclear bomb. One of these is much heavier.. The lighter one is about 10lbs heavier than the original bar, but still considerably stronger. The strongest one is a full 20lbs heavier. But even the super safety factor/heaviest one is lighter than the stock stuff, so not so bad when you think about it. Any of them are available to you.

I shake my head at how light you guys are. I know some of us have some extra stuff for Aero, dry sump, air jacks etc but you guys are 500lbs + lighter than mine and we have very little metal left on the car. My mind boggles!! I'll wait until you're finished and cars have fluids. All the little last bits and pieces do add up but you're still going to be a person or more lighter than us.

Picked AB up today at Airport and we were talking about this among other things. Much of the Aero additions including bracing can add up. Still, talk of 2000lbs has me jealous. :-)

Ah, he said he was packing for a trip the other day. Say hello

Indeed! I'm obsessed with weight now. Adding even more aero so weight will go up. But at least we're putting the alu torque tube back in (with some extra bracing) so that will offset a little

But a long way to get into the 2100 lbs region. But I do have an air compressor on board amongst other things

I'm late to the party.... 2000lbs... sheesh... I'm a fat pig..

I don't know how I could get down that far with big wheels, brakes, oil coolers and a large fuel cell.

Other than that.. there's not much fat to trim.

Tony
