Hey Michael,
I have some smaller comp cover for the HX35. It also uses the hose stile. Not sure if you have that one or not? Here is a pic

I cnc the covers in house. So I can machine one for your wheel. But, The ones I already have done are the 54mm 7 blade and 60mm 7 blade.

Tim, PM incoming...

I added washers between the turbo and mount, to see how much I would have to bring it away for the hotside to clear. Ended up being 2x standard M8 washers for it to clock correctly. I may go a little thicker just for breathing room when I fabricate the spacer, since it's kissing the mount now.

You may have good success with something like this. Or thicker...

For the direct drop in with turbine hsg, I wasn't planing on the need any spacers. I have Jig for the OE K26..

Tim, PM sent that spacer looks like the ticket, and a smaller compressor housing is going to really help in the clearance department.

In other news, today I removed the starter, wastegate, and finally pulled the ashtray engine. Finally making good progress. I removed it from the top without pulling too much...just the fans and PS pump really. Torque tube pulled back as far as I could.

I'm in westchase, you're welcome to stop by anytime and have a beer!

So today I got the motor on a stand and started tear down. Nothing crazy, everything in decent shape except a few hotspots on the flywheel. But I was pulling the pistons and 2 and 4 had the normal 14mm triple square rod nuts, but 1 and 3 are something smaller, like maybe 12mm? Dafuq...

There is very light scoring but nothing I'd consider outrageous. It was a daily before the fire. It'll be for sale (or I guess is for sale, I just haven't gotten around to it). I'm not sure of the miles since it's not the original engine to the car, but based on my teardown so far I'd estimate in the 1xx,xxx range.

Thanks and I look forward to it! I'm always down for a beverage and once my car is running I'll certainly swing by (couple of weeks out).

The engine bay is starting to look a lot better now. Also working on gapping the rings finally. 3 of my pistons ended up being trash unfortunately so I'm getting replacements.

New pistons are here and I'm very happy with them. Got about to installing my rods and rings to them, and set the ring gap relationships per the LR instruction.

Now....having issues with getting #1 into the cylinder (haven't tried others). I'm using an ARP 100.0mm tapered ring compressor, and oiled the hell out of everything (piston soaked upside down in oil w/ rings prior to insertion).

The ring compressor is visually a near perfect match. As I insert the piston, the skirt centers the assembly and I begin to gently press down. No issues. But then as the oil scraper (middle spring bit) gets to the interface, it all locks up. I'm not going to force it. But after trying 10 times, it's exactly the same each time.

Anyone have tips?

You may have the gap wrong on the rings. Put each one in the cylinder with out the piston. Check the gaps on all of them. Also look for some aluminum flashing in the piston ring groove. It may be holding the ring from completely compressing.
