Paul
Lake Forest Sportscars aligns my 951 for $360. They have the 951 alignment specs still on file from when they were the Porsche dealer back in '91. They do it right. Not too many Porsches over there, but they can do it as long as they have the specs.

It's all done....was completed by CPT. After I rebuilt the control arms, I was driving it last weekend and when I turned it hard back and forth (like scrubbing tires), there was a noise coming from the left side when loaded up....figured I would have to figure out what that was.

Pretty much forgot about it, Al called me when it was on the alignment rack and said I had a loose front left bearing....I told him to adjust it, not even thinking it is what I had felt. Picked up the car yesterday, did the "scrubbing" maneuver, and it's gone, then it dawned on me it was the bearing that was loose.

Since I have bought the car almost 2 years ago the thing never handled anywhere close to what my 968 with 170K miles did.....but now it feels great, looking forward to taking it out on some back roads soon. The control arms had to be rebuilt as a pre-requisite to any alignment.

BTW, I was never going to bring it to the dealer, was always going to go to CPT, but was so surprised when the dealer quoted me north of $600. I know the service writer, he is an old Audi guy, and he told me "you're not going to like the price", I just figure that they charge whatever they want in the suburbs of Chicago because they can and they have enough customers who don't care what the price is.

I keep getting closer to having the car 100% sorted! So glad I kept it, was thinking about selling it shortly after I bought it.

Next thing I need to do is to replace the reference and speed sensor wiring going back to the DME. When the wiring is heat soaked, it sometimes will stall after a long run on the highway. Come down to idle at a stop light, the car stalls. If I turn the key and it doesn't start right away I quickly put on the hazards, pop the hood, wiggle the wiring connectors at the reference and speed sensor connection, close the hood, get back in the car, and start it up and drive it away....only about 15-20 seconds.

I'm just going to get a new harness and put it in.

When I was at the fuelfed event last weekend in Winnetka, IL, I had two people that wanted to buy my car, one was very serious!

Over here a laser four corner alignment costs 30-40 euros, I provide them the tool for rear alignment. Never had issues, all Porsche model data is in the program.

There is no magic here..
