Default Turbonetics t4 60-1 hifi rebuild questions and upgrade

My 60-1 needs a rebuild and after speaking with turbonetics and providing the serial #, they said a rebuild will cost $660 which is not what I wanted to hear.

My question is since I have the KKK 8cm exhaust housing on the turbonetics turbo, can I buy a modern gtx3582r CHRA and a gtx3582r compressor housing, then mate them to the turbonetics KKK 8cm exhaust housing and have a true bolt-on turbo with a modern CHRA and compressor housing?

Thanks all

If you have access to a mill/ lathe yes otherwise no it's not a bolt on but why on earth would you choke a GT with a antiquated WW 2 hot housing

The GTX3582R cold side is arguably too big already for a street 3.0 8V, so I would suggest not to go any larger than a GT3076R compressor on a 2.5 engine as whatever the cold side can flow has to flow through the hotside, and you are never going to manage that efficiently (=contained level of back pressure) with a KKK-style hotside.

To get your current turbo rebuilt is probably actually the cheapest option.

I don't have access to a lathe/mill, and from I read in the past going to a gt or gtx turbo required a turbo mount fabricated for the gt/gtx, and just an overall more expensive labor-intensive project.

Can someone recommend a cheaper turbo rebuild option? I spoke with Charlie @ evergreen and he was right up there in price with turbonetics.

Turbonetics said they would give a 90-day warranty, I don't recall what Evergreens warranty was.

Can I take my stock 26\6 that is sill good, and mate the turbonetics exhaust housing on that and bring myself up to a 26\8 with a new turbine wheel?

Looking for options from people.

About 20-30 minutes to file/grind the engine-mount to hold the GT turbo.
Do you really have a T4 flange on your crossover pipe outlet?

Default update

Found a turbo rebuilder in Oceanside, CA that will rebuild it with a 1 year warranty $415, that price is excellent and they have great reviews, so off it goes to them.
