Wiring past alarm on '89 951?
Tried to do this as per the Clark's Garage instructions and it didn't work. Jumper wires got very hot and I removed them before they decided to spark.
Not sure what happened? Any ideas?

So with some further research it turns out the instructions on Clarks Garage are only for the Early cars, not the Late ones like my '89.
I've read that instead of jumping 1 to 4, I'm supposed to jump 1 to 3. Can anyone confirm that? Has anyone successfully wired past the alarm on an '89? If so, how'd you do it?

I did the jumper configuration, including the actual plug in module, with the same results.
I'm pretty good at reading analog wiring diagrams, but since there are essentially 2 "computers" running the alarm system, I'm at a loss as to a work around short of major surgery (which I do not want to do).
Any computer geeks that can figure out the pin outs and a possible work around?

From my notes:
Removing the alarm box from 944/951 cars:
The alarm box is located in the passenger footwell and is about
the size of a pack of cigarettes. To disable the alarm, jump green to
black/white stripe terminals. These should be numbers 15 and 87(a) Jump the blue to
yellow/red terminals. These should all be number 61.
On the early 944 cars and the 924S cars, the colors of the wires
are different. The 15/87 wires are black and green; The 61/61 wires are blue and
blue/white.
On 89 and newer cars with the 928 alarm box, jumper 15 to 87a and
the car will start and run.

Someone do it and report!
My 89's alarm goes off randomly. Cycling the driver's door lock turns it off if I happen to be there, but lately I worry about leaving the car locked.
I think I remember seeing somewhere on this board that the point of failure is the actuator in the driver's door - it gets water in it or otherwise shorts with age.
