Anyone here use the Slick 50 oil additive?
I was talking with a friend and he was huge believer in the stuff and so I thought I would search for feedback on the forum but found none. I have a few additives I believe in, but don't typically do much with oil outside of changing it. Occasionally I'll run Sea Foam for a short time before a change.
Anyway, I know any oil conversation is holy ground and asking for trouble. But I was curious what minds more into this kind of thing than mine think of the stuff.

Don't do it. Use a high quality full synthetic oil. And change often. Yearly and about every 5,000 miles.

I was planning to use the Rotella T5 15W-40 during the winter and switch to the 20W-50 Max Life in the spring based on what I found from research. I was toying with the idea of the Slick 50 if there was anyone who supported the stuff, hence the question.

This stuff has been around a long time, so it's not exactly snake oil. About twenty years ago when I had an '88 Mustang GT 5.0, and regularly drove really long distances (numerous 11 hour drives on the same route), I decided to give it a try. My MPG went up by 2, and I got about 20 to 30 more miles per tank before needing to stop. So yes, it really works.
Despite that, I wouldn't put it in a 951, or any turbocharged engine. This company doesn't seem to offer any recent proof that it's okay for turbocharged applications. I found a publication from 1997 that claims it's great for turbocharged engines, but it's been reformulated without PTFE since then anyway.

Forget the Shell T5. The stuff you want is the T6 full synth 5w40. That's a good winter oil with tons of ZDDP. No comment on the slick 50 other than that I don't believe in adding anything into my crankcase except "oil". The 20w50 Maxlife is good too, my N/A seems to like it. The 951 gets VR1 full synth 20w50 in the long texas summer.

I ran it in my old corolla, in engine, gear box, and diff, and was happy with results but wouldn't even think about it in this car(edit: That should really have said I hadn't even considered it for this car... till now)
