Default Oil pump drive sleeve size

Anyone know the oil pump drive sleeve sizes are? the OD?

I think mines leaking, because that area leaks while the engine is running. I want to remove it and measure the OD but need something to compare it to.

Cheers.

I don't know what the dimensions are, but I do know that I have replaced them before for leaking. The sleeve along with the o-ring that goes on after it. They run about $50 USD, so if I were going through the trouble to pull it off, I would just put a new one on. In fact, after I had to do this job twice on a 968 for this reason, I now replace the sleeve along with the crank seal and o-ring every time.

I'm not sure you'll learn much by measuring it. It rides in an oil seal, so if it's leaking there, you pretty much want to replace the drive, the oil seal, and the o-ring with new items. PET lists the seal with a 38mm ID, so that give you a sense for the OD of the drive sleeve. If it's leaking, it's because the drive sleeve has a wear ring, or the seal is old, but I can't imagine the drive sleeve will be worn down to a measurably too-small diameter.

Thanks guys.

When i did the rebuild, the drive sleeve looked good, and new seals. I'm pretty sure i changed the o-ring too.

Then later on it started leaking. Well that's what i think it is anyway.

Hey Pauly,

I just happen to have one sitting on the bench waiting to go in, so I took a couple quick measurements for you:

That's just a cheap caliper, so I probably wouldn't use those values if I were machining a new one or anything, but they should be very close.

Let me know if there are any other dimensions you need. Hope that helps!

Thanks dave!

I need to see if i can actually machine it and sleeve it. That was my initial thought.

I need to call up Porsche AU to see what they're worth here.

No problem, Pauly. They're about $45 US, if you can get it for something comparable, I'd think it's worth just picking up a new one.

Remember that it gets a groove worn in it from the front crank seal. That can cause a leak eventually too.
