Thanks for confirming the rod sizes. My goal is to use the bunch of spare "desirable" parts I have just lying around and build a fun and reliable daily driver.

I'm aiming for around stock 951 performance maybe with more low end torque and revs near to stock. I'm open to suggestions...or criticisms in the direction of the build I am planning.

I've wondered what a 8v head on a NA 3.0 block would do but without a big cam and revving it fairly high I'd be a little surprised if it did 250 bhp with good low end torque, even with fancy management. Isn't this 85 bhp more than a 2.7 ?

Here's a little help. If you decide to offset grind the crank and use DSM rods this a good deal. The Manley H beam rods are nearly identical to Eagle rods.

iirc an 8v head will not fit a 3.0 block, or maybe it will but it needs reworking of the coolant passages. I'm starting with a 2.5 block bored to 3.0L+ spec.

I don't see a problem getting to stock turbo power levels (220hp) with a stock cam, flowed head, 48mm intake valves and MAP (TechGT) engine management with DFU's and sequential...but I might be wrong...let's say it's a target I'm aiming for.

A 2.7 8v head fits a 3.0 block just fine. Your 2.5 block wont be 3.0 spec unless you add windage ports, raise the floor and siamese the cylinders.

Ah yes 2.7, forgot about that one, rarer then rocking horse s#it and twice the price. A flowed 2.5 head with larger intake valves will more than serve my purpose.

I understand the 3.0/2.5 block differences, those are not a concern to me. There are proven 3.0's builds from 2.5 blocks and I would rather mess with what I have than go looking for a "true" 3.0 block with a negligible benefits for my NA build. Plus I''ll be sleeving it anyway.

I think the likes of Lindsey can machine windage ports into a 2.5 block for not too much money, Porsche used them in the NA 2.7/S2/968 blocks so it's probably worth considering.
