Default Brake pads: PAGID or EBC

I want to change the brake pads front and rear (951 S).
The use is 90% street and 10% track: i'm interested to Ebc yellow or Pagid yellow.
What do you think? Other options?

Never used EBC on a car - though on a motorcycle, they were junk.

I use Pagid Yellows for the track. Only briefly drove them on the street and they were "ok" I guess.

For street - I 100% recommend the OE Porsche pad. And if you're still relatively new with track stuff, they'll survive there too. Otherwise just swap pads out before you do a track event.

I use Pagid Orange for a 90% Track 10% Street car, have for years. Have you ever tracked with the Orange pads? Comparison to Yellow?

No I never did. I came over to Pagid from PFC. The Yellows are comparable to the PF97's I used to run.

I've never tried to have a dual purpose pad. I took my student to Goldcrest at the last DE and they recommended the Orange to him, as well. It was a 991, not a 944, but I by all means respect was they (Bob S/, in this case, but Steve C. is just as sharp) have to say.

I'd probably suggest Hawk Blues. But in reality, I'd recommend changing pads.

If I was doing anymore than just driving to the track I'd swap pads. The Pagid Orange pads stop adequately cold, that's about all I can say. But they are loud like bus brakes when cold. Good on the track though, fine for 20 minute hard time attack session.

What about Pagid S? Work great on the street, don't glaze.

I agree, that is a good pad for light track use that works well on the street and shouldn't be too noisy.

I have used Pagid Oranges for a long time on my daily driven 951 that also sees a good amount of track use. They work well on track and stop well on the street when cold, but they are incredibly noisy. I am willing to put up with this, but many people aren't.

My car is 99% street but highly modified. It is running 400hp at the crank, so my latest modification has been big red brakes with 996tt drilled rotors. If you generated speed, you need to stop right? I bought Pagid blue pads, had them machined to accept the factory wear sensors (I am a bit ****) and installed them. The braking is absolutely amazing. The blues do not need to heat up before they work well and do not fade. I can easily out brake my buddy in his track preped 968 with 944ts brakes. BUT.....even with factory anti-squeal inserts the Pagid blue pads SCREAM!!! on all low speed stops. I cringe at the approach to every stop sign. Track workers note "you have race pads I hear" and drivers just look and think I have trashed brakes. It is so bad that I have purchased factory 996tt pads to install and will save the Pagid blue pads for autocross days.

While swapping street pads while on the street and track pads while on the track is always best, the ebc yellows do work great for street and light track use as they are a mid level pad I would say. They are also very easy on rotors.

Pagid pads will howl on the street as they just don't get up to temperature enough as they are meant for hotter braking conditions of a race track.

My Pagid S pads started off squealing when used lightly, for about 6 months, but not a peep out of them now they're worn in.

Not running anti-squeal inserts either.

Am running genuine porsche OE discs though.

Cheers,
Mike

Pagid blue observations; sometimes they screech like hell in stop and go/round the cult-e-sac driving,

but they seem to be wearing the rotors at about the same rate as the pads.

epic.

I had EBC Yellow stuff for the last 3000 miles on street and did also 7 – 8 (around 150 - 180 miles) track day events (those tracks mostly were quite hard on brakes). I have standard callipers and Bridgestone semi slicks on 225/50 16'' all around tires. The brakes are really predictable – I have no ABS but I really lock them up even (if at all) on hot laps on track. My front pads are almost fully gone and need to be replaced and the rears are still around 50% left. I never had any brake fade also on track where on 2 mile circuit I had 3 corners where you have to brake from around 110 mph to 65 and 4 other corners with hard braking. They are quite dusty which is normal for track day pads, they almost do not squeal and seem to be not aggressive to the rotors. I have bought EBC Blue stuff and see how they compare. Those should be able to survive couple of more track day events.

How long do other performance pads last?
