Default Aussy 944 3.xL 16v turbo.

found this on the chasers motorworks facebook page (melbourne based tuning shop)

They're tuning the motec m400 it's running

What can we see in the engine bay?

HKS To4z turbo (unusual choice)

I am told: built by IMA motorsport in the USA. Has motec m400/dash/cdi, built motor with a custom dry sump setup, id2000 injectors... Tial gate & bov.

Reminds me of a black '86 that was for sale for a very interesting price on e-bay a while ago... same car?

I love this intake.

No idea. I'm pretty sure it's an Australian built car but the engine was built by IMA

I know all about it...and yes Thom, you're correct. Very well spotted! It's an LHD car which was bought by someone in Melbourne who has a well known turbo 968. This motor is going to make it's way into that car which is undergoing extensive modifications. Stand by for this one to be another Awesome Aussie turbo Transaxle Porsche!! Won't be finished until late this year I'd guess.

So this is replacing the engine in that white/blue 968?
That 16V engine with the 968 head looked pretty slick already, what is he doing with it?

There was a White 968 16v turbo down here that was quite well known for some time but he had issues with headgaskets (like many) and it was parked for sometime while he figured out what he wanted to do with it. Oh, it was also changed to an Orange colour at some stage too. Old pics as shown.

He has been slowly making up wide body parts for C/F panels and eventually sourced this car from the US. He even flew over and met the engine builder. If you go back a few pages in the 3L thread it's detailed. Meant to be capable of over 700bhp.

Recently I also instigated an introduction between the owner (Zoran) and Andrew Brilliant (Google) who is a well known Aerodynamicist. On the basis that I have had a good experience with consultation and advised Zoran to do the same. It's going to be quite the car when he's finished.

Sounds good.

What's the spec on that block already? Closed deck? Steel sleeves? Can't remember the specifics from the ebay ad...

A 16V head (*) can make a good difference right away.

(*) with a proper intake

Very nice!
Only thing I don't like is the stock 968 coilpack
Assuming the dyno was on E85?

I remember reading about Zoran's 968 some time ago and this new iteration is even more impressive. 334kw @ only 10psi...crikey!
Who says the US guys get to have all the fun :P
