Default I may have pulled a stupid...

Hey all. I'm working on a rebuild. I have everything pulled apart. Sent the block out to get bored, got new pistons. Everything is moving nicely. However, when I pulled the crank out I didn't take the flywheel off first. And now I want to send the crank out for some work. Is there a trick to get the flywheel off when the crank is out? Or should I just put the crank back in, secure it and remove it that way?

Thanks for any advice.

Or just wrap it in a blanket, clamp it in a vise and go at it the usual way.

Agree with others. Impact wrench is easiest. In fact, putting back in the block doesn't help much because the flywheel lock needs the bell housing to work, and the bell housing covers the flywheel.

Two pressure plate bolts threaded back in and a length of pipe braced against engine stand/table/whatever works for that.

Sweet, post 14k.

Sweet, post 14k.

I've done this lots of times and have yet to break a bolt. PP bolts are usually pretty high grade and are unlikely to sheer.
