Yeah, I'm not driving it anymore at this point until I get some more.

The coil overs are kind of like what Rob came up with. But instead of using the snap ring and sleeve. I found a generic lower mount that bolts to the lower shock mount. I have a stiff upper spring and a soft little spring with a spacer in between.

Ill take some pics. It really has helped to keep the rear from planting so hard. It's strange that it feels slower but goes faster though. I initially wanted to do it to keep from breaking cvs. I do think it will help to keep the axles more straight. I don't know how it will effect them in the long run.

They look like these mounts http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cee-2051

I don't know the spring rates, They are blue hyper coils and yellow ?? I just had them laying around.

I love the old Datsuns! Have had a 510, 610, 710, 240Z, 280Z. Dug them all! What's the 510 running?

Edit: Can't believe I forgot the B210 - took my driver's test in it and drove it for almost a year until someone eating an ice cream cone blew off a stop sign while I was on a 50 mph cross street...

What model Datto is that Sid? Not quite sure that this exact model came down here. It sort of looks like a slightly more modern what you guys call the 510 (we just called it the 1600) and perhaps a bit similar to the Datsun Stanza Bluebird which I think was the first competitive turbo car that was raced down here many years ago. Although this was a 4 door.

This one is a 210. I think it's descended from the earlier 1200s. I wish I had one of those!!

The one you posted looks like a mid 80s maxima. I really don't know these cars that well. I just wanted to start with a light rwd platform and this one was avail and pretty clean.

I'm still shooting for sub 2000 race weight with me in it. It'll be close. I might have to cut weight lol.

Early 80's 210 I'm guessing maybe? When they mushed all the B210, 510, 610, 710's together into one (or something line that if I recall correctly)? I'm sure that's a fun ride. Seriously, my dad and I always talked about what a neat car the B210 would be if it only had some power (the B210 pre-80's didn't even rate high enough to get one of the OHC Datsun engines, it had the OHV 1200cc that didn't even make 100hp). Don't they weight ~1500lbs? Solid rear axle? I had to sell my 280Z & all associated goodies to get into the 951...

Its a 1980. I'm putting a 79 front end on it.

It weighs 1750 with the cage in it so far. Yes solid rear, I'm using a 8.8 Ford.

just updating this thread a little.

Engine is still running great. I've been racing it rarely due to so much rain lately. Along with building my little datsun.

I've made about 30 passes this year. It has been running between 11.30 and 11.50 at around 128. I have had a couple early runs in the 11.20s and a best of 11.02 so far and a best mph of 132.

I did finally break something other than cv's and transaxles. I was out roll racing in Mexico and it spun the splines on the torque tube at the disc. See video below of me pulling a ten second mustang. Unfortunately we didn't get any other videos.

I did take it up after replacing the clutch and found out that a new clutch is much more aggressive. I kept launching too low in the rpms and having to recover each run. It did still manage better than 11.3 and the mph was still 128 even with a DA of 8500'. This gives me high hopes that it will run in the tens very soon.

Now that I know the clutch is back to working great I will be doing a couple mods to add some power. I will be adding a water spray to the inlet side of the IC to drop the temps. I will also be adding a larger 5th injector for a small amount of injector headroom. Both are to be able to run the boost up a little bit more. I've been running it at around 20-22 psi. I'm looking to run it up to around 25. I may also be adding a larger hotside to gain some top end.

I'm revisiting this thread since I'm about to take the car to the same track that I initially set the record at a few years ago. I'm looking to make some decent gains and hope that my car will start to consistently run 10.80 or better after this weekend .Hopefully I can repeat history.

It's been a long road to get here, just like it was when I was trying to beat Bruce's times years ago. I did it then and I believe I will accomplish my goals again. If I do, I will most likely retire this car from 1/4 mile duty and refocus it on the 1/2 mile and full mile events.

Just want to drop in and say thank you to all of those who have followed along and supported the effort. I really still love this car and I'm looking forward to the next year and the changes in store.

in case you need one, black sea r&d offers new production stronger 944 driveshafts in addition to their rebuild kits.

So what clutch are you now using?

There are not a lot of water injection guys here it seems, but I've been using it a while to keep my motor together. I opted for the Aquamist nozzle because it can be controlled like a fuel injector -- the other ones were fairly crude by comparison. At higher boost levels, I found that straight water ends up in the crankcase/oil if you spray enough to really help. Methanol doesn't lower the temp as well as water but it burns so never ends up in the oil. It's also a fuel so helps with injector head room. I've found that a 50/50 mix is best for me -- even with e85 -- as it doesn't end up in the oil this way, provides plenty of cooling (and adds a smidge of fuel). Summit sells Boost Juice which is a convenient 49/51 non-flammable supply... All motors are different of course

Now...when will we see 10's...?

Always great to read your posts Sid and see the progress of your car. Am I correct in thinking that once you crack into the 10's you have to have a cage? You're right on the edge there that they must think you're pulling up at the end, lol.

btw...do you think it's necessary with the offset grind motors to have the block sleeved due to changes to the lateral movement of the pistons?

No tens today unfortunately. Ran 11.20s. I got a really stern warning after my first pass. I was really surprised because I thought this track would be lenient, but I was wrong. They met me at the slip tower with fingers pointing. UGH

I did get a run where I raced a muscle car hat was dialed 11.4 so I was able to use it as a gauge and figure out how it did against a car that was right at the limit of where I'm legal to. I pulled up on it at half track and completely fender raced him (letting off and on it all through fourth gear) I won the raceeven though I went just a little too quick 11.44. That was kind of fun.

At the end of the day, I tried to run it out but spun the tires horribly and ran 11.29 at 129.

I'm using a spec PP and a feramic 6 puck disc. It's the only one that works. I doubt you'd llike it. But, as Shawn can attest, drag racing is a lot more brutal on it than other forms.

I needed a bar a long time ago. 11.5 is the cutoff time.I think I will need a full cage at 135 mph.

It has been and still is my opinion that sleeving is the only way to go with these engines. I don't think that the additional stroke makes the difference, just that the aluminum cylinder walls are very vulnerable to damage.

Here is a video a friend took on his old Iphone. It's poor quality, but you can clearly see me pullright up on a mid 11 second car like he was much slower.

11.2 pass end of day in 95 degree heat.
